Sat waiting for the Money Mayweather fight and am curious why Sky made such a fuss of the racist cabbage that is Muhammad Ali, I mean, as soon as the camera's saw him it was all,"here comes the greatest", but come on his time has come and gone (Iron Mike in his prime would have battered Ali), so please stop wheeling Ali out, just move on and remember him as he was............a cheating racist. :pDT_Xtremez_30:

Bit harsh, but understand what you say. Ali was hype, brought boxing to the fore and lets face it was loved by millions. The greatest? Probably not. Comparing him to Mike Tyson in his prime? Ali would be a complete veg by now....sorry, sooner. Depends what you like, for me, the greatest boxer was Lennox, had all round speed and power.
Then again...BRUUUNO!!!! )and he was a wife beater!!!).

Lennox as a boxer, maybe, but not as a fighter, look at his history, Oliver McCall FFS,great going forward but had a glass jaw if you got close to him, the greatest boxer in my opinion just spoke on Sky Sports, Thomas 'The Hitman' Hearns, a 6 weight world champion, remember The Hitman v Marvin Hagler, the greatest fight..........ever. :pDT_Xtremez_30:

That was a middleweight fight as a heavyweight status...!!! Greatest fight ever seen was Bruno v Bugner!!!!!!!!!

Benn .v. Mclellan for me. Again a tragic outcome, but THE most brutal battle ever seen in a ring.

Iron Mike in his prime would have battered Ali

Iron mike would have spent most of the fight thrashing around wildly hitting fresh air. the rest of the time he would be wondering where the next shot was coming from. Ali had it all a vast array of punches, speed, precision, talent and intelligence. Tyson had brute force, anger and malice coupled with animal cunning. For me Tyson would have been to slow and to stupid to get anywhere the greatest I have ever seen at any weight. The only thing perhaps in Tyson's favour is that modern day heavyweights are a lot heavier than those of days gone by. Ali would have been giving away a couple of stone.

Webbo, you are either on a fishing trip or you know sweet FA about boxing. Either way Mike tyson wouldn't have even been a contender for the heavyweight title in the 70's!

Greatest fight ever had to be Ali Frazier 3 (rumble in the jungle.) Hagler Hearns was the most brutal I've seen, as for the greatest fighter, for me it's got to be either Ray Robinson or Roberto Duran. Totally different styles but in their primes both were as close to unbeatable as it's possible to get.

For me Cassius Clay was really good - but Ali was even better, and is still the best ever boxer for his weight.

I reckon Larry Holmes would have beaten him. That left jab just wouldn't have let Ali/Clay anywhere near him. If you can get some video of Holmes in his prime watch it, best heavy the world has ever seen. He had the best chin ever, a fantastic boxing brain, guts, could bang a bit and wasn't scared to go into the trenches if the need arose.

If you want to see Ali/Clay at his best then watch his fight with Clevland 'big cat' Williams.

If Tyson had landed one he would have hurt Ali, but he would have had to hit him first and I think he was too big and too slow.

He was the greatest.
His quote about Henry Cooper "He hit me so hard my ancestors in the trees in Africa felt it" delivered to (Parkinson I think) absolutely priceless and an admission that he thought he under estimated Cooper. He certainly stayed away from him when he got back up.

For about half a round! Then he took him to pieces and stopped him!Ripped his face wide open.
Contrary to popular belief there was no long rest either! Ali's glove was already split, Angelo Dundee just made the most of it. Ali was up and ready at the 55 sec mark. Cooper could have fought him 100 times and he would still have lost 100 times.

You know fcuk all about boxing then. Ali would have battered Tyson he beat better fighters than Tyson and he made them look slow and ordinary.
Why would you call him a racist? Is that because he spoke out at a time when blacks in America were still being lyched and burned because they were black?
I've got an idea, if you don't know what the fcuk your talking about it's sometimes better to say fcuk all. In your case that must be most of the time.
