The rise of the motorist? Or the rise of the motorist who is getting fed up of being overtaxed, speed camera flashed, demonised and generally criminalised in the name of revenue.

There is a sense of irony in this report.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring...-grudge-slashed-tyres-of-40-cars-at-DVLA.html

Especially when someone says, "No one could move and people were left stranded, nobody could get home. It's going to cost me £100 to get my car fixed. What kind of person would do this?"

Probably someone who was gonna lose his or her livelihood because of arcane law!!!

Normally agree with you TW, but......

If the assumption that the perpetrator was someone who had a grudge against this department of the DVLA is correct, then they are essentially only shooting the messenger.
And if someone did stand to lose their job through an accumulation of speeding fines then getting caught once is clumsy but understandable. Twice and you're (the royal you that is) not really trying hard enough, three times and you really need to be careful now because one more and, oh sh1t you really should have thought about the consequences more carefully.
On the above I speak from experience as an accumulation of 10 points back in the 80's made me realise that I had to pay far more attention to the process of driving than I had been which had seen me getting caught and fined so often. And it IS possible to control your car within the acceptable tolerances of the speed limit thresholds without staring at the speedo.

If it was the tyres of one of these private clamping firms that rip people off I wouldn't care.

But everyone knows the rules of the road, (Or bl00dy well should), and therefore volunteers for punishment by breaking them.

Don't speed.
Don't get a fine.
Simple.
Been said before and no doubt will be said again and again!
you perfect **** never sped always followed the highway code, you will be up for a sainthood.
Go on an advanced driving course given by the IAM and follow the system of IPSGA when driving and believe me, you will never have to speed again. Or you could just follow the rest of the sheep and drive like cr@p!!

Not at all, I've had 3 points for speeding but I didn't moan like a minge as I was stupid enough to get caught. It was poor driving on my behalf with no one else to blame but me. I've done the courses and should have known better.

What is this? Someone taking responsibility for something they have done? Could this be? I thought that this practice had died out!!

If you get points whose fault is it? 99.99% of the time it isn't anyone else's but your own so why bitch and moan (or vandalise property) of those who are just upholding the law.
