Thanks guys, I'll keep you informed as to how things are going!

Hopefully, will look forward to going to work again in the not too distant future, rather than with dread.......

I find it incredibly dissapointing that you had to resort to coming on here to have your problems sorted for you. Haven't your hierarchy got a spine between them? Sounds like you work with a bunch of jellyfish!

On the flip side, I must confess my admiration for the guys who have gone out of their way to help out! Fair play to Ping and the other two accomplices!

Hope everything gets sorted in the end thanks to the external help!

I've had a reply from the CASWO. He's definately looking into it. I'll PM those concerned.

Update gents......

The PT thing is getting looked at, thanks to some assistance from Cosford. However......

Bit of background.... Army Ammo Techs open boxes and determine servicability of stores within. They do not go and get the explosives nor take it back to the storage buildings - they leave that to civvies.

The army are running badly behind with their jobs, and so are looking at doing extended day shifts (12 hours) for a few weeks in Oct-Nov (we, the RAF are on target with our taskings by the way).
The civvies won't like working overtime so we have been volunteered as "delivery drivers" seeing as though we can drive forks etc.

Are they taking the p155 or do I need to wind my neck in? One team one fight and all that??? We never get any help if struggling with work.....

Having worked at that DSDA camp,i would have said,2 things come to mind.
1.The civvy work force has been cut,cut and cut again, the wages they are on are not that good,so any O/t on the run up to xmas may have been welcomed ,however unless its changed o/t on a week day only pays plain time, further more there was always an "ops issue"must do attitude however after almost 19 years of one op or another it may be wearing thin.Years ago there was a pioneer company to do that work as well.
2. At the end of the day your already paid for and i fear your being used to keep some one on budget and on track for the next rank or some gong.

Utter bollox. The type of work you do will have no bearing on your promotion prospects. I know plenty of armourers who have worked in similar environments and managed to get promoted. Futhermore if you think secondary duties will get you promoted under the SJAR system then you are seriously deluded.

talk about being shot down in flames!!!!!:pDT_Xtremez_26:

on our last sjars our friendly army officer who writes part of said sjar told our chief not to give anyone above a b+ as we hadnt got secondary duties.......... and als that our work wasnt very technical but was often monotonous...

read into that what you will

People can get promoted on a B+.

Secondly if you aren't happy with the assesment you recieve there are systems in place. You need to pressure your 1st RO as well. Tell him to grow a pair. I guess this goes down to the lack of balls he is showing earlier in the thread, but to state you won't get promoted w/o secondary duties or because your work isn't technical enough is pish. If you are that concerned what is stopping you getting a secondary duty? Nothing probably.

The PT thing is getting looked at, thanks to some assistance from Cosford. However......

How wrong was I. Having done 2.3 mile out of a 3 mile "steady state" boot run this afternoon. I had to quit early due to the pain of my blistering feet (not run in boots since basic trg over a decade ago). The trainee PTI was not satisfied with this and reminded me that "You are a soldier". I said I wasn't but he wasn't interested - the RSM was looking on and I felt that arguing my point would only get me in bother, so gave up.

The general concensus is that we can do excercise in boots if we are conditioned which is a fair enough argument, like I said before, I have no problem with doing phys (I could do with it) but the pongos have no interest in conditioning training, basically telling us that "this is how it is, man up". No need.

The two other RAF lads who attempted this boot run (who quit way before I had to stop) are both planning on popping into the stn med centre in the morning to get sick chits.

Seems that we ARE the army here. I am getting really fed up - and am not the only one.

Just thought I'd make a similar enquiry; any news at the coal-face?
