Ive just bought a new ATI 4870 graphics card and bloody hell.....the thing eats FAH. The Graphic card version is better looking and much like the ps3 one. Now ive got to find out if you can run the cpu one at the same time.

Thats the point though.....you don't need a new PC......almost ANY old PC will do......just leave it chugging away in the background and you'll probably never know it's there.

However if you need a good excuse to get a brand new spanking machine......well :)

Fold on...................:pDT_Xtremez_09:

Well, the interim Mobo is working (after a lot of stress) and faster that the old one. The problem with "any old PC" is that the huge work files I get take a week!

A new (and faster) machine is on the cards for later this year.
I'd like to understand more about Wobbly's new Video card. . . .

Time our Folding Team had a bit of a BUMP!!!!

We're down to only 24 CPU's working on it in the last 50 days - surely we can do a lot better than this!!!

We're ranked 1561 of 155640 teams, which is good - but we're slipping down the table a bit now...

http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=teampage&teamnum=54234

For those new members of the Goat - why not join in, the program takes a minute to download and install and works in the background when your PC/PS3 is on - it doen not degrade performance....

Our team has been going 2 years now, but could always do with more members...

As of a quick glimpse this morning, we now have only 23 CPUs on the job.
A PC running F@H does not consume much by way of energy, so come on Chaps & Chapesses, do try and get going.

There are only 19 CPUs at it.
Please, folks, just leave your PC quietly working in the corner and let it get on with it.

Come on guys, thats a pretty poor show. It doesn't affect your PC and it doesn't slow it down - how can it possibly hurt?

Lets get the team climbing back up the stats again!

Well said, Edzar.

Unfortunately, my B machine has decided to stop working and just sits there, bleeping and making strange noises, so I'm down to one working CPU.
I'll fix it ASAP (anyone know anything about Hewlet Packard PCs?)

Where are all the Goaters??

Where are all the Goaters??

Have just been on Kakao 'cos it shows much better stats and there is only 7 people folding out of the 59 people who have registered!!!!:pDT_Xtremez_25:

I can't believe that the other 52 do not turn their computer on these days.....

Just let it run automatically from start up guys and you'll never notice it.

How do you think all these gene discoveries are being found - lucky guesses.

/rant - Happy New Folding Year :pDT_Xtremez_30:

There was a bit of a "I'm cutting back" when the fuel prices shot up, but I really think it's time some of the team got going again or more joined in (?).

Come on chaps & chapesses; get folding please.
It's not exactly expensive.

Just got back from my many jolly jaunts around the planet these days, none of it at her majesties pleasure either and I have noticed that the Folding software's not been running.

I have an HP machine which had Vista but I updated it with Windows 7 around end Nov and never noticed it wasn't running - too busy doing other stuff.

I'm going to try re-installing it but and see how that goes but at the moment if I open it, it seems to start then just closes down.

Anybody any ideas, cos I think if I uninstall it I will lose any data that it's already been working on?
