Apparently the UK is broke, but we can afford to give Pakistan £480 million pounds, WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!
It will be used to help increase security on the Afghanistan border. Also Douglas Alexander, the UK international development secretary, said the money would also be focused on education and health projects.

Tell them to ram it, we need the money for our own people!!!!!!!!:pDT_Xtremez_25:

Whatever next?

The Pakistani border is already full of bent soldiers so this will be a right Royal waste of money.

Call me radical but, why not give that money to our own armed forces to strengthen the border security from the Afghanistan side????

It may actually get spent improving border security then!

It's fast approaching time to pull up the draw bridge, Fu(k foreign opinion, let the rest of the world sink or swim. And stop throwing money to ex colonies that hate our guts. They wanted independance.

I wonder how much the foreign aid budget adds up to?

A thought, no foreign aid, no need to administer it, significant reductions and cost savings in a major government department (Foreign & Commonwealth Office).........................Nah! never happen.

This is an insult to all of us. I agree the money would be better spent on the troops in Afghan. To say I am angry about this is an understatement in this economic climate we somehow can afford to give away £480M to Pakistan is an insult to all British people::/:

Oh come on folks. Never mind 'The Stan', this has been going on in Iraq right from the dropping of the first coalition bombs!
The UK government has given hundreds of millions of pounds of tax payer's money to a country which has the 4th largest reserve of oil in the world.
You and I are paying them to pump the oil out of the ground and transport some of it to the UK where the Iraqies then charge us for it!
The same government do-gooders have been paying Afgan poppy farmers more money each month to sit on their ar5es than they can make in a year from growing and selling the raw materials needed to manufacture heroin.
While our under valued Armed Forces are stuggling to maintain the proud 'can-do' tradition of all those who came before us, those people they are sent to protect are laughing at us as a Nation.
If our brave young boys and girls were not dying for a totally lost cause, it would be laughable.............

Lions led by donkeys!

This is the biggest insult ever to the united kingdom, I really want a refferendum to remove this government immediately.
Can they be allowed to do stupid stuff like this to help the enemy that every corner stabs us in the back. I really am angry now

Where exactly is this money coming from? :pDT_Xtremez_42:

£480 million may sound alot, but in government terms it is struggling to be even loose change. The UK's net Foreign Currency holdings for example are in excess of US$26,000 million (link for those bored enough to read the account!).

As the central governement of Pakistan still aspire to be helpful to us, I support this investment whole-heartedly. British lives have been lost at the hands of those who pour through the porous Pakistan/Afghanistan border. Securing that border must be a priority. Also British nationals have been training in the border region to bring terrorist activity back to the UK, any investment that reduces that threat must be worthwhile.

I realise this view isn't popular, so am standing by for a barrage of abuse from narrow-minded Mail readers!

A noble sentiment indeed. Unfortunately, you know as well as I, the first £400m will be "utilized" somewhere else (politicians new house, boat etc (allegedly!!)), the next £70m will then be shared amongst the military hierarchy (again, allegedly) and then maybe the remainder will filter down to border security!

Here's a idea.

By sending £500 M of UK tax payers money to provide support to the government of Pakistan so they can secure the border with A'ghan and prevent Taliban insurgents finding save havens from where they can plan attacks on the multi-national forces engaged in the War on Terror.

Or better still, why not just put our hard earned tax pounds in a fnuking shreding machine, it will have the same effect

Naive to say the least my friend.

If you honestly believe this money will go anywhere else but into the swiss bank accounts of a handful of corrupt 'politicians' you are living on a planet with several more moons than ours!

The only reason anyone in the Pakistani government "aspire to to be helpful to us" is because they are making millions of (british tax payer's) pounds from our interfering, nest feathering, two faced, dithering, politicians.

Why would they bite the hand that is feeding them?

World saviour.
'Gordon Brown put pressure on Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari to clamp down on militants when they met in Islamabad today'.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article5339975.ece

Just take a look at the grinning idiot, real pressure I am sure!

Currently 30 major terror plots in the United Kingdom 2000 suspects under surveillance

75% of plots have links to Pakistan

British military officials believe there are a "handful" of British militants fighting alongside the Taleban in Afghanistan, often entering the country through northern Pakistan, where al Qaeda and Taleban leaders are thought to be sheltering.

£6million I am sure could be better spent
