Documentary following a BBC reporter as he goes undercover to investigate if the army have stamped out the menace of bullying in the aftermath of the Deepcut scandal.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00dtxgt

Here we go..... an 'in depth' report into bullying in the Armed Forces. Programmes like this do annoy me.
The guy has an agenda and as such will watch and manipulate situations to fit.

On another note - this guy works for the BBC, great use of licence fee money there.....but wait - he's joined the Army....and getting paid...more taxpayers money wasted on recruiting him and training him.

Will he pay the money back? should the BBC be made to give the cost of recruitment and training back to the MoD.

discuss.........

And fizzed for bringing the Armed Forces in to disrepute, the fcuking shark.

Recruits get "beasted" its all about changing a civvy into a service person. I fcuking hate journos, no doubt he will say it's bullying.

NB: I don't condone some of the thing that happened at Deepcut, but I do think if you join the military and can't take a bit of shouting or some punishments, then maybe you need to reconsider if it's the job for you.

Well said MP.

Trust and teamwork are also big factor, how do you reckon it would feel to have one of your 'mates' turn out to be undercover scum.... sickening.

That is actually my biggest pet hate in the forces. If team trust and respect gets eroded even further by everyone thinking undercover journos are around, we'll all end up in serious doggy-doo.

but wait - he's joined the Army....

Stop right there.
He's joined the army and taken the oath, ergo he's in the military and subject to the official secrets act and everything else the armed forces are expected to abide by. Surely he can't just say 'actually I'm a reporter I don't want to be a soldier any more'?
Post the cnut to Afghanistan and lock him up if he refuses.

Ahhh there lies the crux, what if the army already knows about it, and is using it as a PR excercise????, (get out of jail free pass)

Thoughts????

Well The Undercover Policeman did no favours for the Police, and while the activities of the recruits filmed were reprehensible and racist, it's turned the once proud Police family into a handwringing parody of it's former self. I wouldn't be surprised if it did some woeful damage to the Army.
Journo scum.

Only way I can see him not being banged up. There was that case of a journo spending a year as a trainee copper a few years back which did raise a stink.

Edit - Dave Ex-Fairy beat me to it.

If they weren't informed either before or during his application to join I'd like to know what measures are going to be taken. Is there not a declaration which all recruits must sign to say that no information is being knowingly withheld which may effect their application.

I also hope he got taxed on holding two jobs.

Waste of time, effort and money, which lets face it isn't there to be wasted on anyone, on this entire venture.

I suspect that someone Very High Up will have been informed. He'll pay tax on any income (if he's self-employed, no sweat there). After all, does the General really know the problems have been sorted out?. If not he might like to know one way of the other. SIB put their blokes in strange places. . . .(or used to ).

I wonder ?

You'd think so

You'd think so

There is no way the super sophisticated puters that EDS have sold the Labour Govt could collate info and inform the powers that be that there might be a guy earning two lots of cash.

The documentary is a bit out of step with the current PR campaign so I doubt the big wigs would be aware.

Who watched it then? Was it full of horrendous activities that defy morality and decency? Was he shouted at? Forced to get up early? At some point bollocked for doing something wrong? I shudder to think...

I suspect people will let you know after they've watched it, tonight.

Bloody BBC. Not only do they make stuff like this, but they then schedule it up against one of the only things I regularly watch (Mock the Week).

Looks like it's time to dust off the old VCR.

I am waiting until this program is aired before I pass judgement on it; for all we know it may highlight serious failings a la Deepcut. Experience however has taught me that it will be heavily edited to ensure it makes it to broadcast and creates enough media interest. Most worrying is how the Army's stringent entry criteria and the DVA's checks didn't highlight the individual as a fcuking charlatan.

I can't help but think that the reporter in question ought to be prosecuted for false references, deception, filming on a MOD site without authority, breach of the Official Secrets Act etc.
