That's me done. Cleared BAE Marham today and gave my ID card to an AC, at least he didn't cut it up in front of my face.
Long time 28 years but have enjoyed 90% of it and the other 10% I can't remember. Talking to the guys during the clearing process there seems to be a lot looking at jacking it in sooner rather than later. I Think we/you* are in for a bumpy ride in the next few years as I see major manning problems at both ends of the scale.

It's been a hoot but time and tide waits for no man. Enjoy it while you can

Cheers for the votes of confidence lads.
Did a weeks work during resettlement but gave it up as a bad joke, the lb of flesh they wanted was not the same size as the one I was willing to give. Luckily found a decent one and start on Monday, not happy about the 40% emergency Tax by the way but it's only for a month

Nice one Captain. It's true. You don't say No very often in civvy straße, but it's nice to know that if you really don't like what's going on you can say so.

Welcome to the free world comrade!

Cheers for the advice, I may have to go to back to school to learn this new new tounge you civvy people speak in. Have found it easy to get onto the employment ladder, it all depends what attitude you have to some of the wages that are on offer in the big wide world

I should be clearing next week but due to a medical issue I have to wait for a med board to decide my fate. Bloody medics, won't let you have a discharge medical until you are in your last 5 months, then if there is a problem they take forever and a day to sort it out.

I am out on a medical but opted to complete to age 47. I found that asking for a second opinion for treatment suddenly put the wheels in motion. The Med board is just you and a Wing Co. so do not be to worried about that, hope all goes well fella and keep in touch with the RBL and the RAFA, that's why you contribute to them, so they can help you. They normally hang around the job fairs that CTP organise.

It's just that i've been downgraded for an ankle problem for the last 14 months, they need to know if I can be signed off on a temp downgrading or if I have to go to a med board for perm downgrading. The annoying thing is the ankle problem arised at the end of 2006 and I only just got it scanned last month. Get the results of the scan this afternoon, so hopefully that should help them make a decision.

That seems bang out of order. Make sure all the relevant information regarding why it has taken so long for the treatment is documented on your
F Med and obviousy apply for a copy of the said document as back up, as you may need this admitance if your ankle does not heal properly and you wish to claim.

Good Luck, mate.
And welcome to Civvy St, complete with all it's extra confusions, annoyances, regulations and local government.
