In my new job I'm required to wear JHC badges below my Union Jack. I don't have a union jack!! Clothing stores gave me 3 JHC badges (irrespective of the fact I have 3 shirts and 2 field jackets) and don't have any UJ's. This is on top of the big gay ROYAL AIR FORCE and the pointless red-and-blue thingy on the other sleeve, and the velcro thing below that!!!!

FFS, I thought CS95 was meant to be "sterile". Surname and last 3 will be next, above the other pocket ::/:

How am I meant to get all my uniform badged up if they don't give you enough? Typical of todays RAF I guess ;)

Rant over.

In the modern day of Joint Operations, the badges are there to tell the D*ckheads of the Army that you are NOT one of them. I do not moan about the ROYAL AIR FORCE tags or the the RAF Flash or the EAW velcro cos they tell the idiots that I'm AIR FORCE. Most people don't wear berets on ops and have the Desert rank flashes as well, so we do need them.

As for the EAW's, I overheard the 903 SWO in conversation that he felt that they gave everybody on a NFU tour a focal point to being part of a unit identity and had been an excellent idea to re-introduce. With my experience of BAS, I would agree on that..

Signs of the times I'm afraid. No problem with the RAF labels but with more and more units going for Corp-de-Esprit and all that nonsense it's just ZOBS trying to get browny points. I'm a CIS Tech no matter where I go so don't see requirement for extra badges.

The usual clueless pish that I expect from you, having been on formed numbered signals units in the past, with a history and an Esprit-de-Corp, I've seen numbered unit identity bring out the best in a unit in that guys go out of their way to be better than the rest. As for a Badge that should be CS95, how about a green and black Sparks badge for the TG2 and 4 guys, oldest trade badge in the RAF, and the boy's on 90 SU can wear it instead of that stupid Royal Signals TAC Flash they have to wear.

Totally didn't get the message did you. APOD Basrah really doesn't have the same ring as 903. And when you are surrounded by ARMY as I said in my last post.

TG4 love shouting out WHO they are, wherever I've seen them.

Get yourself down to the tailors shop. They'll probably have loads of spares and will undoubtedly know where to sew them on for you!

As far as I can remember you are not required to wear the JHC DZ patches on your field jackets, only your shirts. Hence why you wer given three.

Badges are marvelous.. We should have extra ones for what we know, like a how to solder badge or I can change a circuit board card in 10 seconds. We could even make them look like medal ribbons like the yanks do. We could then compete against them.

And then the government could get away with a name change to the Scouting Force.

Anymore bright ideas ? :pDT_Xtremez_30:

Here is one. Why not have a name badge you can pin and unpin onto your uniform with stars underneath to indicate how many medals you have, a bit like mac donnalds.
