Accomodation

Accomodation

I've been lucky throughout my career to always have a decent block or house to go home to at night.:pDT_Xtremez_28:

In fact my last four quarters have been good enough, that given the opportunity I would have bought them.:pDT_Xtremez_30:

But it is shameful that a Government that claims that it hasn't broken the covenant is able to get away with these kind of actions. I think it is summed up by the fact that some of these lads prefer the accomodation out in the 'stan...even with the mortars and RPG's!:pDT_Xtremez_06:

Lets get them boys in some decent accomodation for fooks sake, surely there are empty room or even barrack blocks somewhere that are in better condition than that!

I'm failing to see the logic of selling to Annington for £1.6bn and then renting back for £2bn. Am I missing something? :pDT_Xtremez_35:

No, you're not missing anything in your logical way of thinking. What you are witnessing however, is the Labour government's policy of short term gain, long term pain..

They saw the MQ sale as a very brief cash cow and as much as Labour hate the forces, they knew that the housing stock was needed by the three services as par for the course. That £2bn rent back comes straight from the defence budget, but you do the maths and see who the winners and losers are.

From the Defence Estates website :

"The majority of the MoD's Married Quarters in England & Wales were sold to Annington Property Limited in 1996 and then leased back by the MoD. As properties become surplus to the MoD's requirements, they are surrendered to Annington Homes Ltd. who in turn, sell or lease them individually to the public"

Crack on.............:pDT_Xtremez_09:

Cottesmore has had quite a lot of refub going on and Ive heard Coningsby has some decent quarters. So far I've been lucky. However in single days and when doing on the road tasks, Ive stayed in shome real sh*thole blocks.
