Best place to look is Here. Had a quick look and didn't see anything about the subject.

Needed to go to the end of the main chapter. Para 0880 "Serving personnel
should not wear orders, decorations or medals belonging to next of kin when in uniform."

Is it all like this now? No scratching around for AP1358 in OC GD's office, only to find that it hasn't been amended since whenever.

Its been on the Intranet for a while, on my last unit some pratt wanted us to wear greens as normal working dress, dug this out and killed that idea stone cold dead. TBJ posted a link on another thread after I stated that ILLBW would have to wait until work time to dig out the dress regs.

Well Prince Harry appears to have a Golden Jubilee medal! As he wasn't in the military when these were issued something fishy is going on....

While at HQSTC doing a parade for some chimp who was visiting, an SAC wore his Grandads Iron Cross.
CinC STC saluted him during the inspection.

Maybe the CinC knew exactly what it was.
You should salute the Iron Cross.......well they do in Germany anyway.

My Dad told me a story once of a young German solder on a tram (don't know where or when but it was during the war). He was sitting on the floor with his head down cradling his rifle, when an Officer saw him and started to give him a b#llocking for not holding his rifle correctly. The tired soldier raised his head; and at this point did the officer see that he was wearing an Iron Cross First Class. At this the Officer came to attention, saluted, apologised and insisted the young man take his seat.

As for the CinC doing it, he might of been in the know, or it could be that the CinC was thick.

I'll have to get my Dads Iron Cross out and give it a buff up for the next parade, just to see what happens. lol
