A person claiming to be a former RAF Regiment Gunner and believed to be in their late 40s or early 50s and now living as a female named 'Sally Moat' recently attempted to join 2235 (Deal) Sqn ATC however they left when they were told a CRB check would be necessary using words to the effect 'my chequered past will show up'. The same person (suspected) using false identity papers and purporting to be a member of the ATC was able to gain entry to MOD Manston, went to clothing stores and asked for clothing for a band performance 'this weekend'. Fortunately at this point there was greater awareness than at the guardroom despite the deep voice of the visitor, the ACLO became involved and the person left empty-handed. For some reason CivPol were not informed and the person was not detained but just removed from unit!
