Currently in my second year of college, studying a level 3 diploma in computer science, wanting to join the RAF when I have finished college. Not too sure what to do/go about joining up.
The apprenticeship I would love to take up would be a cyberspace communication specialist (full time), as I’m really interested in all things techie. But, I read up on the requirements for the apprenticeship. I’m not too sure about the eyesight regulations. Wearing glasses and working in the role I wanted, I wasn’t sure of the regulations as I’ve been searching everywhere, phoning the careers information offices etc. No one has been able to tell me. If anyone could help me out with that, I’d be super happy.
So any tips on signing up and who’s bst to chat to? It would be a huge help.

A good place to start would be to use the search function on here, as I can virtually guarantee that nearly every one of your questions has been asked here previously..

The recruitment forums have a wealth of information in them.

As far as I am aware the only trade you need 20/20 eyesight for is pilot.

As long as you are not Mr Magoo and your glasses bring you up to 20/20 you should be good to go.

Part of the medical exam includes eyesight tests. There are minimum standards to be met for uncorrected and corrected eyesight based on the position a candidate will hold. For regular roles +/- 6 dioptres is required. Also colour blindness is not accepted in certain roles, but does not eliminate a candidate entirely.

Will look at the AP for a definitive answer
