Having just returned from the Netherlands, the talk dominating the news has been the shock success of Geert Wilders.

Will this make a difference to the future of our Dutch friends?

Reflects the public mood and headline events, doubt he’ll lead as the other main parties are reluctant to be in a partnership with his party.

He needs to gather other parties around him to form a government so his policies will have to be tempered by other views.

Isn't he the geezer that was PNG'd by the UK Government some years back because of his views?

I'm not sure his rise is that surprising; across Europe a number of countries have reinstated border controls to control the flow of asylum seekers/economic migrants/refugees despite being in the Schengen area and the rise of right wing (of varying degrees), anti EU factions is evident in France, Germany and Italy. I suspect that the leadership of the EU is less in tune with European popular public opinion than it likes to portray.

The current abuse of the Western world”s asylum protection systems does appear to creating a breaking point, which is having an impact on elections.

No matter where you are on the open borders spectrum, you must be aware of this.

if this change becomes wider and more permanent it will start to impact on the behaviours of the EU Blob.

Will it ?

The EU needs a ready supply of free/cheap labour. Those that aren't needed can be funnelled to the French north coast.
So what if the current population don't like it ? Label them all racists and shut off the argument.

i don't see "the EU" changing one little bit.

The EU don’t need cheap citizens, it might need cheap itinerant workers, but not citizens. You’ll never fund EU lifestyles, healthcare and welfare if you have too many entitled citizens earning £12k a year.

Might be able to mask it through Govt borrowing, but that can’t last forever.

It appears you're conflating citizens with labour, and EU with UK.

In a world of grey politicians, anyone with colour will stand out.

Grey politicians are generally left wing/socialists, colourfull are generally right wing.

Grey like to remain as it is and help the poor and needy, colourfull will promise help to everyone else.

There is a pattern emerging cross the world, just look at the USA, Argentina as well as the countries already mentioned in Europe.

And at the end, you get what the people voted for, by it's very nature, you can't please everyone

It appears you're conflating citizens with labour, and EU with UK.

Since Brexit the Conflation can stop, both the EU and UK have the same issues with illegal economic (and emerging political/cultural) migration and problems yet to be endured.
