TG 11 Trade Merger

A question that has been discussed in offices and crew rooms, but nobody had the b@//$ to ask on the forum, until now......WHO HAS GOT THE BETTER DEAL OUT OF THE MERGER OF THE INT AN (I) AND THE INT AN (C). I know what my answer is. :pDT_Xtremez_06: .over to you Trade Warrant!

Ricit,

do you honestly think that you will get an answer to this, other than the 'politically correct' we have all benefited from the merger?

Promotion aside, I cannot see any areas were we have won or lost out. However I am a bit detached from the trade at the minute and the way things are going or what changes are taking place.

Any news would be welcome. Any spooks out there who would like to PM me and give the latest gossip would be appreciated.

Seems to depend on your point of view, I'm pleased we merged as it's given me the chance to move out of the "I" world and learn some new skills.

Good question, well presented...

Good question, well presented...

To be honest, I'm not sure. I've seen Sigs guys move over to Imint and vice versa, and I think it's still too early to tell whether there's a solid 'winner' or 'loser'.

One thing's for sure, I don't think that the Imint side will benefit as much as Sigs in terms of manpower numbers, because the old Int An (C) trade only had a colour perception passrate of 4, whereas the new Int An (?) trade has a colour perception passrate of 2, and the old Int An (I) trade was CP1. And I know for a fact that the JNCO (C)s are being told that they are unemployable as Iminters because of their eyesight, restricting them to purely SIGINT duties.

Not sure if it works both ways, though I can think of a few Iminters who's brains weren't 'up to scratch'...

Depends a lot on the job that people are being asked to do to be honest. For me, i could never do an Imint job (i have perfect eyesight btw), as i cant sit there and look at pictures and glean that much from them. Ive done visits to JARIC and TIW, and the only thing ive wanted to do after them is remove my eyes from thier sockets!

Dont get me wrong, i appreciate imagery, and i can use it myself well enough when im adding other int to it. I just signed up to be a squiggly, and did the appropriate trade training. Not to fill posts in an Imint world that others dont want to do.

In theory, the merger has opened up more posts for the C's potentially making postings easier and not just the same few stations, however the reality is that its probably taken more of the core jobs away for a C and forced people down the imagery route.

However, we will have to wait to see any real improvement or changes in the trade, as the manpower still has to be balanced properly. What makes me laugh is that there are still postings that demand either IMINT or SIGINT backgrounds, which kind of scuppers the idea for a merger....

Didnt the SAC Int An I's benefit from a payrise though?

I've had my fair share of days when, having been sat on set for 12 hours, I'm ready to rinse out my eye sockets with battery acid! As for the remaining IMINT / SIGINT prerequisite posts, I think it's all going to end up like Intructor posts, where the qualification course will be applied prior to a posting - which will probably cause no end of nightmares for the manning desks! Now, if we were just allowed to apply for courses willy-nilly as part of our overall career planning, like some Army trades, then ACOS Manning would have no end of qualified bods to place as-and-where they were needed!... (but I doubt that will ever happen!)

Well the new trade training is supposed to take away some of that, with the lads having to do visits to various stations before they get thier SACs, and they do a basic int course before they go off for a job, and can specialise further through thier career, normally in 2 subjects i believe so they dont go too far down one path, but also to stop them being jack of all trades.

However, doesnt help the guys who are in at the moment does it! :pDT_Xtremez_19:
