It'll be some ploy to extract more roubles from the Kremlin. Failing that, the Russian state will just round them up and kill them, or bomb a few of them and blame Ukraine to bring the rest to heel. They control the agenda within their borders and the citizens only get told what the state wants them to know.

A few days ago I read that Putin was in ill health and it was possible that someone would soon try to oust him. One of the names mentioned was Prigozhin so maybe.

What is waiting in the wings post Putin is even worse. Nikolai Patrushev is even more of a hater for the West and he was the one who ordered Alexander Litvinenko's assassination with Putin signing off on it.

This will not end well and the Ukrainians can, in the short term, probably save some ammo and leave the Russians to shoot each other for a while. There also seems a strong possibility that old Mad Vlad Putin has seen the writing on the wall and done a runner.
