So on the 13th of June I've got my selection interview and although I've had a look through the forums and got general details in the presentation after my AST I'm still a bit worried about what things I'm likely to be asked.

The things that I already know I've got to be prepared for are as follows;

- Name/location of all permanent bases in UK and around the world
- Aircrafts at each base
- RISE
- What happens at basic and specialist training (locations and time frame too)
- NATO
- General history of RAF, date formed and important dates (ww1 for example)
- NATS
- QRA

any other things to add to the list, or generally any advice or links to material that may help me is massively appreciated.

another main thing, does anybody know how much they're expecting me to know about current affairs? I'm guessing they're ask about Syria and Iraq for example.

Hey

I am currently revising for my selection test which is on the 28th of this month. Four days time. Aaah! lol

The things you have already mentioned are all things I have researched too so that's a good thing. There is just a few more things.

here is a list of things I have been revising to hopefully help you in any way.

  • education, school and grades etc
  • What do your family think of you joining the RAF
  • responsibility's and achievements
  • spare time activities
  • employment
  • motivation to join the RAF what attracts you?
  • The role of the RAF?
  • Tell them about NATO
  • current deployments and operations
  • UK RAF bases. I was told to pick 5 and give a brief description about them
  • current Overseas RAF bases. THERE ARE FOUR. Falklands, Gibraltar, Ascension islands and Cyprus. Why do we have them? etc
  • Five current RAF Aircraft
  • Knowledge of your chosen trade. and trade training
  • RAF HALTON basic training. if your going there that is
there is not to much difference from yours to mine. but we had a very informative sergeant and corporal.

I wish you all the best and hope this can help you in some way
