Aside from daring do in the sky he also used to ride a motorbike around a wall of death...believe it or not with a lion sat next to him in a sidecar!

He also flew with Ernest Udet, was deported from Germany in 1939, survived the sinking of HMS Audacity (being one of only 2 survivors of 802 Squadron) and holds the world record for the highest number of carrier landings (over 2,400), flew missions in the Battle of Britain andsurvived a V-1 attack on his house.

how the passing of this guy doesn't receive greater exposure in the media is beyond me.
