is this the right section to ask about auggie pension as we are auxillary does the RAF put anything into a pension or is it down to me to pay into a private pension? if i carry on paying into a pension i started years ago can i get the money to come out before it hits my hands?

i have a feeling that only full time RAF are having a paid into pension.

Reserve service attracts pension if it is Full Time Reserve Service or if it is a period of embodied service. I am afraid Reserve training and Man Training Days are not pensionable.

There was a pretty long running legal challenge to the MOD by the TA about pensionability of the latter (2006-8 ish). The court found in favour of the MOD.

full time reservist whats the diffrence? i want to do all the weekends possible:)

Full time reservist is somebody who works for the RAF full time, but is a reservist.

Contracts are offered, not that often, and generally to people with particular specialist skills that the RAF have a need for. Also generally these skills belong to somebody who has had a full career in the regulars first.

Every weekend is not full time.

As said, normal Auggie 'employment' is casual - no pension, thought it has been argued that the annual bounty awards take that into account.

If you're mobilised, or go FTRS, then you can get a pension for that time - Reserve Forces Pension Scheme (RFPS), or your normal employer's pension scheme contributions covered in the case of mobilisation.

If you're a well-paid forces pensioner and want to minimise tax due, then Auggie pay can count for contributions into a SIPP, but that's a whole other story...
