Looking at remustering, on service ground to ODP. Can anyone shed some light as to where the parenting unit is during training? Not sure if its Keogh or Whittington? Or maybe neither of these locations! Thanks

Training is 2 years, full-time at Birmingham City University, Edgbaston, Birmingham.
As to parent unit, i'm not 100% sure as things have changed a bit recently.
Are you interested? I'm not an ODP but I work with them day in, day out and could easily put you in touch with any number.

Thanks for your response, I am very interested! Although if you are based at Keogh but working/training at Birmingham, it could get exhausting with all the travel and studying! I am also married, and husband will be based in Lincoln which isn't a problem as we have discussed it. Just thought it would easier if I wasn't based at Keogh!

Went for this last year and narrowly missed out (weould be applying again this year but stuck in the South Atlantic currently) and to my knowledge you'd be attached to Cosford for medical dental etc. Also accomodation would obviously be provided at Birmingham too if required.

What are the prospects like in civvy street for ODP's?

What level of qualification will you end up with at the end of the training package?

Sorry you missed out. If you have any tips on the specialist interview, it would be much appreciated.

You can apply for it whilst you are there, the service cannot disadvantage you applying to progress your career, do all the paperwork for it and hand it into PSF there making sure they know where to send it and they get a Senior occifer there to interview you for it, they will also cross ref with your previous application! I know this because I did my application for my successful remuster whilst OOA. ;-)

I looked into this, and the civvy options for the future - all looked pretty good...

Until I saw that it's time promotion to sgt after completion of training, and it's 6 years to sgt if you are already a Cpl when you transfer. So 8 years from now to Sgt. That didn't appeal all of a sudden.

But for younger and more junior people - it seems like a great chance to get a civvy trade

Blimey, I think I'll go for that!

I spoke to the WO dealing with this and it's still a 2 year dipHE this year, the move to degree courses has slipped by at least another year for ODP. Still the chance to top up in future will be offerred.

Just hope I can get my application sorted down here in the South Atlantic in time. Fingers crossed it's second time lucky for me.

I have applied for this too.

I have got all of the job info i could find in the AP's and from looking at the various uni courses that offer the DipHE qualification. i was hoping someone could shed some light on the interview and what to expect in it.

any help greatly appreciated!

Well got the letter from manning, not released from trade despite them making 75 of us redundant in June.

Hopefully that means I might be in line for promotion and not being lined up to be pushed out through the door.

That seems daft, especially since the ODP trade are actively recruiting from the Manning website!

Thats what I thought, especially as I was allowed to potentially leave trade last year when AV Cpls were up for redundancy too. Must admit it has my paranoia about redundancy twitching.

The opportunity to remuster to ODP has reappeared on the Manning website and I am eager for additional info.

If there is anyone here within the trade, or if you can put me in touch with someone who is, I'd very much appreciate it if you could throw me a PM.

Thanks.
