NI Numbers and stuff

Any ideas why I would be given a temporary NI number? Being 48 years I thought the one I had would be useful

Did you apply for it, if not I'd start checking out the possibility of ID theft?

I would give them a call to find out why. My sister was issued a duplicate NI which only came to light quite a few years later, I think she was in her 40's. Luckily she only had a couple of long term jobs so it was easy to pick apart each work history.

Sounds fishy to me mate and could screw up your pension if it's not sorted.
