Hi there, I m after help regarding the medical side of joining the RAF I currently have two pins in my hip from a disease I suffered with as a child these can be removed however. Any Advise would be great

No not yet as not a year clear of my last operation. Can apply from Feb.

When you apply, you fill out medical supplement leaflets that get sent to the raf experts who will decide. Anything else you find on the net will be pure speculation.

Thanks for your reply. I don't suppose you know the rules regarding pins in the hip?

No. And the only people that do will tell you after you've submitted an MSL. No one else is qualified to say.

As Downsizer has already said, Dept of Occupational Medicine make the decisions. Apply, fill in the MSL, and you'll get an answer. EVERYTHING else is just guess work.

No need to wait until February or bother the AFCO staff (yet). Write into the Department of Occupational Medicine as an enquirer and one of the friendly Occ Health types will write back to you with a decision on your fitness to join. make sure you include as much medical information about your condition as you can.
