Gimmick. Israel's surrounded on all sides and in depth, the UK's not. If the situation changes, the UK could probably eventually adapt. The only historical precedent I can think of is the Battle of Britain, and at that time, the UK's air defences were probably an Iron Dome of its time.
I'd say that if there's a country that needs an Iron Dome right now, it's not the UK, it's Ukraine. And really, it's relatively easy to put ground based air defence systems in place, all that's needed is the money and will power. But if you're planing on using Rapier, don't expect it to work very well, if at all.
Britain is probably better off significantly increasing its own military industrial complex and then sending plenty more hardware to Ukraine, and quickly.

No need our potential adversaries are miles away not living on our doorstep. Probably be hugely expensive to set up, then even more expense required to maintain and staff all for a possible might be.

The general public wouldn't want it because of the cost, the snowflakes wouldn't want it because of internal stress isssues, mental health pressures that may arise if their cat finds out and it's not very woke is it shooting things that could then fall on protected vegan woodland or a sleeping dormouse. Surely it would better to send a strongly worded e-mail first, then if that doesn't work back it up with an angry whatsapp message or a sad face emoji via SMS.

Read yesterday that the problem with the new drones is that they’re so cheap and simple it is a real waste to send up something cutting edge, counter measures that costs many times more just to knock them out, the Laser gun or the Radar Aimed 50 cal seems the way forward.

Even if this thing became a thing, with the state of procurement, we'd order an Iron Dome and end up with a Tin Pot.
