I just find the whole situation absolutely incredible. As has previously been stated, Corby is a high unemployment area and needs every bit of help that it can to assist employment. To move jobs to other areas because Corby "is too white" and has insufficient ethnic minorities thereby not allowing govt departments and others to reach their ethnic minority targets in employment is absolutely ludicrous. This is just playing into the hands of the more racist and ultra-nationalistic parties (sounds incredibly like National Socialism 1930s NAZI style to me) and allowing them to gain footholds and create racist attitudes. What in h**l is New Labour playing at here? Voting for New Labour is almost tantamount to treason in that you are voting for a party that appears to be anti-British, Ant-white & anti-christian.

It doesnt say that there is a prison in Corby. It states that the Prison Service has 80 office posts at the Crown House Corby. It's these posts that will move.

We are becoming more like the states everyday, soon we will be leaving jobs vacant because only certain ethnic groups can do them or to make sure we have the right percentages of ethnic groups. From what I can see I reckon those days have long gone. However, I first came across (in the Service that is) an instance in the early 80s on the Fighting Cocks. I had a young chap working for me (Eng Tech A/P) who was totally useless whilst most of his contemporaries wre really good. Anyway, it was coming up to the point when we had to recommend him or not for promotion from JT to Cpl. I refused to recommend him, 6 months passed, he was still just as useless, so I refused to recommend him again despite the enormous pressure put on me by my WO & SEngO. Three months later I was practically ordered to put him forward for promotion but I still refused telling my WO & SEngO that THEY could over-ride me if they so wished. They didn't have the balls to do it! Within 2 months, his Mum had contacted her MP, questions in the House.........it all came back to me being accused of racism (he was of mixed race!). I still refused to recommend but as it was getting too political the SEngO recommended him for promotion. The lad concerned was without a doubt one of the biggest wastes of space I have ever met. Throughout his whole, short, career (I found out afterwards), he had pulled the racism card and got off with it! Within a year he was out of the RAF....still claiming racism was rife!! Bloody sick I can tell you!!!

We already are. A little while back i remember reading that some police forces did not hire as many new recruits as they were allowed, because some posts were for 'minorities' only. Surely the best person for the job, every time? This country is turning into a sh!thole.

They told him to re-apply in a years time but he was so pished off with passing everthing and then getting knocked back that he has canned the idea totally now. Whatever happened to the days whereas you employed the person because the can do the job, not because of their race.

Jeez CJ, the whole damn place is falling apart. You're absolutely bang on mate. We can't (or daren't) stand up for ourselves in case its us the innocent who get done!.....or so some of these tossers think anyway.

so won't get on my high horse again but employers in ths country really do have a bl00dy awful time recruiting the 'proper' person to do the job.
There is growing positive discrimination towards minority groups, which I am truly not against in principle, as some of these people have endured real problems and hardships in the past. But, it must be implemented with a grain of common sense. We are seriously considering 'passing' on next years' apprentice intake, purely because of the hassle and flak we receive from those from minority backgrounds who have been unsuccessful at interview. The hassle/flak rarely comes directly from the candidate, but from their 'hidden advisors' who only put in an appearance when things go t!ts up. Plus I am not happy at the government imposed 'minority quota' we must adhere to when recruiting. ie we must employ a fixed percentage from minority groups at each intake. If we have say 6 places and 10 successful candidates from interview and then 4 minority places with 0 succesful candidates, I cannot recruit the 4 spare from the main interviews as this is not allowed. End of argument.
