Hello all,
I am looking to get married next year, and would love to go abroad somewhere (not too bothered as long as it has a beach and reasonable weather). Just the two of us and then a party back here in the uk for friends etc.
Has anyone else done this sort of thing or can you recommend anything.
We are not bothered about a big posh wedding just cheap and chearful as there is just us two so not bothered about any of that.
Any help would be appreciated
thanks

Two words - Las Vegas.

i concur, the place is set up for weddings and it's guaranteed weather.

If you're thinking of the Carribean you will probably need to take hurricane season into account (May-Oct). I went to Antigua for a mates wedding and ended up being chased from island to island by Ivan and eventually ended up in a very soggy Cancun.

Plus Vegas, if you don't gamble, can be very good value. Even the biggest hotels and casinos put on very good value offers for food, drink and accommodation plus with all the shows and sights to take in you can have a very jolly time!

Recently I worked out I could fly mr family to Vegas for New Year's Eve (7 days), stay in Circus Circus (B&B) doing a couple of shows and renting a car for cheaper than taking them for 7 days skiing in Austria over the same period!

Got married in the Dominican republic and arranged by Thomas cook. All inclusive and other than providing legal proof I was free to marry nothing to worry about. Resort provided a cake and evening meal in the a la carte restaurant and some very good fizz. Got married on day ten of fourteen pm had a tan and got rid of the runs . Morning on the beach and married in a little garden just off. Fully legal and accepted in U.K. and you don't have to go back to divorce her afterwards!!!!

Hey Sid,
Congrats on the marriage plans. Me and the wife done it in Alaska earlier this year. Me and her decided to go watch the dog racing but then decided why not incorporate a holiday marriage. It worked out brilliant , far easier and so much cheaper. We like yourself decide low key as we don't have much family.
Just decide a location, contact the hotel your staying or plan too and ask if they an arrange a local marriage. Also check online the rules of getting married in that country and do the planning. In Alaska it was so easy, getting the minister was the only challenge but after some internet searching and speaking to the hotel manager we got a top guy that done the deed for a £50 malt whisky I took over from Scotland.

Good luck and any questions just give us a bell. Our wedding cost £350 plus about $200 dollars in government fees lol. The holiday was 3 weeks touring Alaska and supporting a friend in the Iditarod race from anchorage , Fairbanks and Nome. Once in a lifetime memory me and the missus will never forget and got no regrets.

Circus circus is a dive though!

It's average which for a Vegas hotel kicks the ar$e out of an Austrian 3 star chalet. The rooms would have had 2 queen sized beds, a large tele and it would smell overly of furniture polish just like everywhere else in the town.

Friends of mine just tied the knot in NYC over a whirlwind long-weekend. Wasn't expensive and got to do the usual NYC touristy bits for a honeymoon.

Or there's those Sandals resorts, if you're into that sort of thing.
