Had a bit of a problem coming back from sandistan, captain came on the tannoy and said the handling agents would let us leave early, to get back to brize(went via somewhere else).

The captain said he was happy to go, so were brize and his airline.

Anyone know what they are? What the RAF uses them for? what are they in charge of?

Handling Agents are companies that are contracted to provide Ramp Services at airports where there is no RAF handling. They provide everything from Marshelling, Cargo and Pax handling, Refuel, Catering etc etc etc. They are also a point of contact if there are any ATC slot or Ops issues. It routine for the RAF to use these around the world.

Maybe we should use them a bit more often then, that way I wouldn't have to volunteer any of my lads to handle baggage at Brize when there's a "shortage of movement personnel" to do it for us.
