Looked a bit on the Internet, but couldn’t find anything.

does anyone know how long the gen tec mech trade training is, and is it still done at st athan?

You're re applying after 7 years, fitness test hasn't changed or medical employment standards.
Trade is on its arse for manpower and recruitment, so good chances of getting in as long as you're fit and healthy.
Heads up once you have completed trade training and been at a unit for about 12 months you can expect to be spending 4 months away out of area, usually Mount Pleasant Complex Falklands for most or Cyprus for the lucky ones.
