As this is an RAF site and you'll need to get used to this.
SATCO likes Coffee White One
Duty Pilot likes Tea .. Earl Grey
Senior PFOM likes a Skinny Latte (stuck up bugger)
Approach takes it "Julie Andrews"
Oh and OC ops likes a Fruit infused English breakfast tea.

That's the 5 covered I believe. 

Serious answer. From what I hear AMM is only closed until they sort out the training pipelines again. Plus they may rename it. Again.
Forgot to say. Benson and Brize only show the lorries, transit vans, Landover and buses in our aircraft fleet, don't forget there's a whole world of prima Donna fast jet boys and some really clever (if somewhat wierd) sneaky and devious platforms. That's a big thing to consider as every type is different.

Hehe, What do you mean by sort out the training pipelines and renaming the role? Is it going to be a more direct job so that you don't have t o do a tour on general AMM before being streamed into Av or are they doing specific training for different aircraft types ? I'm just a little curios .

rest have risen above me

By removing the years work avoidance.. sorry experience they effectively chuck you out a "tech". I've heard the term AMT bandied around. You'd have to choose or be selected for a specialisation whilst at Cosford. As for the training pipeline that is basically the planners trying to guess what we'll need in manpower in the future. They need to sort stuff out now that will have effects 10,15,20 years from now. For further info read up on "Tarot for dummies" or "Tea leaf reading for beginners". (It's got to be a really difficult job actually);

Its all to do with aptitude.

Spanner monkeys will have a different aptitude skill set to ops monkeys. Just because its a lower academic qualification entry level - don't be fooled into thinking its an easy job.

It was only a joke :tennis:, from what i understand no job in the military will be easy.

Not sure if i asked this before, but it's still a grey area for me: What do you actually do in the towers, control them, talk to them ???????

As an FOA in a tower, you work in roles to support the controllers.

Visual Control Room Assistant
Approach Room Assistant
Airfield Duty Driver
Depending on the airfield possibly Runway Caravan Controller

Every tower is different, but its only a small area of a very diverse trade
