Erosion of perks for the wives

Recently the medical centre has publicised that it is only for aeronautical medicine as well.

The wife has to register at the local doctors and has been seen on the front page of the local paper registering at the front of the queue for the new dentists in Elgin.

So that's Lossie - No Medical Care, Marham - No Medical Care, St Mawgan - No Medical Care, Brize - No Medical Care, does any camp cater for the families?

MRM does - plenty of my lads with families on the patch are registered there.

They certainly told the wife to go register elsewhere as they were not taking any more dependents.

Have you been there a while?

Ah, that might be why then. She's been registered a good few years.

I can only think they're 'encouraging' dependants to go elsewhere due to the impending influx of personnel. Which begs the question as to where Lynham's med staff are going?

Can medical care be refused to only some dependants and not others? I'd like to think if you refused to register elsewhere thay would sign you up.

Arrrr - I would see that as a perk - unless of course the doctors in the med centre have got much better since I left.
Most of them were farking useless, being not good enough at the end of med school to be even offered a GP's job so they ended up in the RAF dispensing painkillers to keep the lads at work.
Manys the time we've had lads visit the quacks time and time again with various skeleto-muscular injuries only to be given Brufen and told to get back to work.
Until of course they get a posting or a fitters course, when the said Doc, not wishing to be found out, won't sign their blue chit and insist on arranging a specialist appointment.
And as for the one who came on detachment with us supposedly to look after us and then had his wife fly out and then took a holiday..........

You'll be much better off with a civvy doc I reckon!
