Entry into Edinburgh Castle

I’m off to Edinburgh next week for a few days (pleasure not work) and obviously the castle is on the list of places to visit. I thought I read on here somewhere that if you flash your veterans badge then you can get reduced ticket prices or even free entry – I’ve used the search facility but can’t find the relevant post. Does anyone know whether it’s true?
Or is just something else I dreamt?

You defo get free entry if you flash your ID card at the ticket booth. The castle is still a working military garrison. Not sure about your veterans badge though. Email historic scotland and ask they get back to you very quick.

You do get in free with military ID. However you cannot queue jump for the ticket booth...boo!

You also get in for free if you are a member of English Heritage.

That'll be because they're intending to lock you in a dungeon until you agree to independence.
