Enola Gay

Having been pointed to this site [Linky] about te Me 262, I had a peruse and found some pictures of the now-presentable B-29, Enola Gay. The various pictures were interesting (no real detail, mind) but one thing caught my eye.
In some pictures, the mark on the tail is a huge R in a circle, while in others it is an arrow pointing forward, in a huge circle.

Can anyone tell me about the different markings please?

The very presentable Enola Gay is sat looking very smart in a fantastic air/space museum in Washington DC. A must see if you're travelling I that part of the world

Can anyone tell me about the different markings please?

Apparently Tokyo Rose had broadcast the fact that there was a bomber with an arrow insignia on the tail amongst dozens of others with an "R" on the Marianas. So they re-painted it to match the other aircraft.
