Dental Officer Question

I am extremely interested in a career change with regards to attempting to become a Dentist, especially within the Armed Forces.

On the RAF Careers website it states:

"having already undertaken your vocational training, or you can do your vocational training in one of our practices and at Defence Dental Services"

Does this mean there is the opportunity to undertake the initial training within the RAF as opposed to a civilian university?

Thank you for your time in this matter,

At the moment I don't think there are any sponsorships available for Dentist wannabes. The MDLO up at Cranwell will be able to answer any questions you have. Contact your local AFCO and ask them for the number.

Dental 'vocational' training, is the ~12 months of postgraduate training that all newly-graduated Dentists have to complete in order to be able to work as an independent practitioner.

This is separate from the undergraduate dental degree - which you study for at a University.

If you ring the MDLO, they will tell you whether or not they are sponsoring anyone through Dental degrees at the moment.
