All i've ever wanted is to be given the chance to be part of the RAF. So much dedication i have given toward my goal.

Devastated was i to find that a medical condition when i was younger is to hold me back.
Noturnal Epilepsy, not even the full condition. I had two convulsions in '95 & one in Oct '01. Medication was only taken from '95 -'98.
Long gone are my booze drenched student days, my lifestyle has improved dramatically.

In October it will be 8yrs free of the condition. The original question that brought all this to light was "have yu been affected by the condition in the last 8yrs"
I sent an appeal via my GP to The President of the Medical Board, Officer&Aircrew Selection Centre. In response i recieved "not possible to consider you for entry into he Service at this time" Which denotes that in time I might well be able to be considered....?

All i want is to be given a chance, &not be refused to even show my worth. Surely this must be an individual case? there mus be an option available to me so that i can be considered into any part of this well oiled machine.

I'm currently going through an appeal myself, so i know the frustration you feel fella.

It might be worth making an appointment to see your local GP, and get them to forward a letter to the President, stating the fact that, in October, you will have been unaffected by your condition for the last 8 years, and would the medical board be so kind as to re-assess your fitness to enter the Air Force.

The final sentence of the letter that they sent you does indicate that they require you to be unaffected by your condition for a certain period of time; in addition, if your GP further states that you have drastically improved your lifestyle, and that you now have a greatly reduced risk of any sort of repeated suffering from this condition, and that he is happy to support your application.

Assuming you can get him to say that, you may well be in for a good chance of getting in.

Fingers crossed for you fella, and let us know how you get on; other members may well have some further advice for you though.
