Hello!
I am an ex-RAF Fighter Controller / Air Battle Manager that has been working in the United Arab Emirates for 30 years. Although no longer involved in training, I have been asked to source one (or more) high quality retired RAF SNCOs to fill ABM-related Instructor positions at a UAE Air Force training institute

Working at a military institute, the job entails the following duties commensurate with academic and practical training of UAE national NCOs and Officers in the skills and knowledge required to function in the role of Aerospace Systems Operator, known locally as "Radar Operator (RO)."

Briefly, duties include but may not be limited to:
  • Participate in training the current academic and practical RO course syllabus;
  • Update / develop the current syllabus to reflect changes in operational procedures - SAT experience / qualification preferred;
  • Maintain, update and develop training packages (study guides, instructor guides, lesson plans, presentations to reflect syllabus updates;
  • Participate in the administration and development of theoretical and practical testing of course attendees;
  • Prepare individual and group end-of-course reports;
  • Ensure course material is updated where appropriate to reflect the current UAE civil Air Information Publication (AIP) is reflected accurately;
  • Participate in and manage practical RO training using advanced C2 simulation systems. Create simulated exercises to support RO training;
  • Assist in the training of other Air Battle Management-related courses with the delivery of theory instruction and practical simulation support.

Applicants must be retired UK Royal Air Force (RAF) Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) with at least 10 years’ experience in Air Battle Management operations and should possess a relevant instructional qualification and have instructional experience.

This is a permanent position with an initial 2-year civilian contract that is renewable on mutual agreement. Terms are subject to qualifications and experience and are negotiable but the following minima should apply:
  • Salary – AED 300,000 p.a. tax free, paid locally (Current Exchange Rate 1 UK Pound – 4.71 AED)
  • Accommodation Allowance – AED 125,000 p.a.
  • Accompanied status, with Education Allowance for up to 3 children.
Interested parties should send their CV to charles.line@milmail.ae. Though not directly involved in the recruitment process, I will do my best to answer any questions prospective applicants may have.

Hello again,

*****UPDATE TO VACANCY FOR RADAR OPERATOR/INSTRUCTOR POSTED OCTOBER 2019*****

If you read my earlier post you will know that the UAE Air Force is looking to recruit a Radar Operator/Instructor, a successor to a long-standing ex-RAF Radar Operator/ Instructor who along with three similarly qualified and experienced scopies, shaped the specialist ASOp training in the UAE over the past 30 years. The current job holder is off to hang up his headset and retire to the golf course in 2020!

Although the job description remains the same as in my earlier post there is a change to the remuneration for this permanent position.
A minimum all-inclusive monthly salary of Dhs 45000 (£9319 per month) will be paid, locally, administered through a well known third party HR management company rather than on direct contract with the UAE Air Force. With this revised more flexible approach, no further allowances are payable so accommodation, travel, health and education costs would be borne from the tax free salary by the employee.

I am happy to informally discuss the position and terms via email if anyone is interested in finding out more about this re-packaged deal and before entering into the formal recruitment process. My email is charles.line@milmail.ae .
