RMP did internal - seatbelt checks etc, lol RAF Regt did a bit of camping off base. RAFP did guarding, CofE, patrolling, PAR etc - this was Iraq and Afghan.

    Army beards

Fair, but feck me, i'm not that old :) Tats, beards, yes - no issues with that, but dropping testing standards, laxing security etc, we'll see the results later down the line. I don't mind tats, but i must be a dinosaur if the tat on the PTI i posted earlier is acceptable - i think it's...

Did you read my post or just make up what you thought i had written? Won't someone think of the children?! The tats i refer to is like the image i posted, do you agree that type of tat is appealing? But the point of my post is that we are dropping standards across the board to aid in...

Interesting pic of the modern RAF

New D&I training. 1st slide: And asked, "Which cotton spool do you identify as?"

    TG1 Retention again

Why is Uni a pipe dream? These days a degree is a minimum for kids - unless going into Forces etc, everyone's got one! Tuition fee is loaned and maintenance loan is means tested. The ML however does not even cover accommodation costs, so there is definitely an element of bank of Mum and Dad...

I agree we need to do something about recruiting, but dropping standards isn't one of them. Tats, Beards, vetting, pass mark standards etc - short term gain, but what is the long term effect going to be? Tats like this throbber i mean:

    Wider Service Medal

Just got home and these were waiting for me: Got mine and a few mates done by George McKay - another great job :)

    Wider Service Medal

Medals: together with rank and qualification badges, such awards are a means to outwardly display the highlights of a serviceperson's career. A turning up medal is a bit crap, but i suppose it makes us all inclusive and gives people something to wear. I'm proud of the work i did in some of the...

    Wider Service Medal

"Woke medals have started then... it'll be the equivalent of a junior school sports day participation medal... because there are no losers." "I Had To Serve In A Campaign Theatre To Get Mine" "Sounds like some whiney officers need a medal. Cant/won't go anywhere sketchy but want some bling...

Haven't seen the DIN, but the list of Ops are on DefNet.

    Wider Service Medal

Devalues the UK medal system imo. We're just giving out a medal to appease the younger generation and give them something to wear - just like the Septics, chest full of medals and ribbons for nothing and we just laugh at them. A chest full of UK medals used to mean something, now the parades...

Joining the RAF in 1981 at age 16.5 and joining now 2024....How has it changed?

From joining to the RAF life itself, it's changed massively and not for the better in most parts - imo. I still think it's a great start to life or even perhaps a career for the young 'uns as they don't know what it USED to be like or the opportunities the RAF once had to offer. But yes...

    TG1 goodbye Chf Tech

All i am hearing from CAS and the SLT is that money isn't the issue. Er...........yes it is, alongside many other things wrong with the RAF. We should be compensated the same as our civilian counterparts and if not more as we are separated from our families for extended periods of time, plus...

    TG1 Retention again

No, but i bet it has had an effect? HR's, 10 days to reply, reduced service, no fleshbags in the office. C4I's, similar story. But it's not about cost saving, honest.

    TG1 Retention again

Which part? SSP - regionalisations of services, leading to intersection moves, more or less work dependant on trade, postings and general unhapiness. RAF Wittering model - splitting bases into Air Wgs and Air bases.

    TG1 Retention again

Did this for years as a cop! 12hr shifts, 4 days, 4 off, 4 nights. 4 days leave = 12 off. Day workers would bump their gums, but it stayed this way despite testing new shift patterns and failing. Was a sad day when MPGS took over. There's a fair few Chiefs signed off at my place, SSP now the...

    Acting Ranks

Or disinterested/lazy/ET'd 1st RO's who tell their juniors to write their own assessments, subsequently promote and who would have had zero to little hopes any other way.
