    Fitness test change?

These scores are lower than when I did the PJFT in 2021, had to do the run in 12 mins as a 36 year old. Funnily enough, when I attempted back in 2008/10 in my mid twenties the run time was 12 mins 3 secs (push ups and situps were 6 and 9 respectively according to some old paperwork I found).

    ATC Alert State Board

Thanks. Guessing Military Vigilance would've been regular peacetime tempo? Either way, I'll see if I can snag a photo of the board.

    ATC Alert State Board

So the flight I'm in is based out of a decommissioned ATC tower, the old control room still remains with one or two pieces of it's previous use. There is what I describe as an 'alert state' board with stuff for various alert status concerning Air Raids and NBC, etc. Under 'Alert State' is the...

    RAF Halton...Week 1.

Seen the entire lot, a bit...optimistic with some of the timings. Still, recognized a few bods from my time at Halton.

    Supergrad, Cranwell 29 April

I think an issue in the past couple of years is people getting through to BRTC when they would've been picked out at a face-to-face interview at the AFCO. Heard a story from staff at Halton of one lad who shouldn't have been there and ended up being declared 'Unfit for Military Service' and I...

I'm not sure I'm afraid, we left the lad in the care of the medics before hurrying outside again. I know it was a thing the DIs hammered on about after one lad passed out earlier in the week, witnessed that one as I heard the rifle hitting the ground before hearing the lad do the same.

    Supergrad, Cranwell 29 April

I had to stretcher off the one on the left hand side, he was pretty much out of it and bit of a shame since he had almost made it to the end of the parade. The lass who'd collapsed first on the other side had recovered, saw that she was seated when we brought the other guy in. Spotted myself...

Cool, congratz for getting through to the end. I'm on my final weekend before graduation, just a few days left. Starting at Cosford in three months time, so gonna go on Holding for SATTs. Certainly found phys a struggle as well, so recommend working on fitness.

I've had an email saying that I've got to do a lateral flow test before I set out and bring proof of a negative result with me, I've got to go straight to the main camp. Noted, though I'm not a smoker but will see about popping over if I can.

Cool. I'm still on track for joining Thompson Intake next week. Did you do covid test at the airfield on arrival or LFT before you set off? (looks like I have to do the latter based on the emails I've received).

    RAF Halton kit list

I'm shopping around for bits and pieces, got boot polish from Supply Drop because literally nowhere else I went had it (was told something about Kiwi reducing their range and who they supplied).

    RAF Halton kit list

Thanks for the link, though from discussions elsewhere I've seen people comment that the iron and/or ironing board aren't much cop but the rest is generally decent.

Still have that start date or has it changed? I'm now looking at a January start.

    Barry Masefield

Yeah, I didn't find out much about his service life until much later after we'd fallen out of contact. That said, he arranged for the Vulcan to do a flyover of my cousin's wedding in 2012 and I got a chance to chat with him then particularly as I'd read Rowland White's Vulcan 607 which Barry...
