Yeah, I hope so. I'll find out in the next few days, but even if it isnt what I hope for I really don't want to have to postpone my OASC dates over something that could possibly just resolve itself between now and then. I'd rather go and speak to my Dr for advice, just get it treated if it will speed things up, and then speak to the Dr's at OASC and then find out what my options are from there. It is not something that will affect my ability to train or do the job as best as I can and other than this i'm perfectly fit and healthy with no other medical history or problems! Frustrating! And what do you mean... fossilised at 26! I've just turned 28!! :pDT_Xtremez_42:

lol, I know it takes the mick! I had my filter interview in December and turned 26 the following January. As it happens the rules changed 14 days prior so at the time I was eligible when I applied but missed out by weeks. Gutted!

Hi all, thought it would be easier to ask this question here as it's in the same vein!

I understand that the training timescales are as follows:

Basic - 9 weeks
NCAITC - 10 weeks
WSOp Generic - 13 Weeks

Then streaming...

FW Cmn - 4 Months at Cranwell then OCU
RW Cmn - 42 Weeks at Shawbury then OCU
Sensor - 35 Weeks at Cranwell then OCU

And the pay scales are as follows:

Recruit (first 6 months) - £13,377
Recruit (remainder of training) - £27,051
Sergeant - £32,114-£36,205

Could someone please confirm how the pay scales work in terms of training phases (i.e. would the pay increase following completion of Basic? Or Basic AND NCAITC? Or Basic, NCAITC AND WSOp Generic?)?

Thanks.

As far as I have worked out you'll be paid as a New Entrant throughout the Halton and NCAITC phase.

Once you have passed the NCAITC your pay jumps to Level 1 Corporal (High Payband - £27,592) again this will increment annually until you have completed all your training. Yes you hold the rank of Acting Sergeant at this point but it is unpaid.

Upon completion of your time at RAF Cranwell (Generic WSOp, FW, EW, ACO training) your pay jumps to Level 1 Sergeant (High Payband - £32,756) but you will still be an Acting Sergeant albeit paid as a substansive one. If you go RW then you have to wait until completion of the Phase 2 training at Shawbury before hitting this level.

This then increments annually upto and including level 7. Once you have been awarded your Brevet you then receive flying pay and the rank of Substansive Sergeant.

You also have what is known as AIP's (Advanced Incremental Progression) You have 2 of them to use in your career and this allows you to jump up a paylevel instead of waiting for the annual increase. You should be able to use the completion of your Phase 2 training as proof for the first one. Completion of the full degree which you work towards should be enough for the second. Pointless using it though if you are already on top whack.

No worries, for old duffers like myself trying to remuster it is slightly different as we can't have a pay cut. I'm currently paid as a Level 2 Corporal so on passing NCAITC I'm not sure if I'll jump up to level 3 or 'mark time' at level 2. Time for a phone call to TG17 I think. :pDT_Xtremez_41:

Spearmint you will be due a pay rise on completion of NCAITC. Check the amount at PSF as I can't remember the % as you are receiving a promotion. You get your brevet on completion of your streamed training and will recieve substansive pay. For sensor and fixed wing this is at Cranwell. On completion of your OCU you will be starting to work towards Combat Ready etc and the flying pay. Hope this helps.

Pay for NCA

Pay for NCA

Hello people,

To clarify the pay situation and when you are awarded it. Firstly, the pay scales you have mentioned are pretty much right. However, you will not go to the £27k wage straight after completing the NCAITC. That jump in wage occurs 6 months after completion of said course.
Once you have been awarded your brevet then you go to the Sgt High level one of £32+k and the flying pay should kick in too, which equates to about £2.5k, so your yearly wage will then be around the £35.5k mark.

Who told you that? I'm currently on course and my fellow course members went straight onto £27k where I went to cpl level 4 now on level 5.

I don't doubt it. However, neither I or anybody else I know waited 6 months for the pay rise after NCAITC. Just thought I'd share the gen.

I don't doubt you have either. However, before you spread gen like that as gospel, you need to ensure that what you and your course buddies are being paid is indeed correct. I suggest you contact your course clerk in PSF and find out the gen, or it can be a very expensive mistake to make for you. But trust me, Claytos is the man with the gen.

Appreciate your comments however I have checked and we are being payed correct. I spent several trips to PSF last year sorting pay out with them as everyone else had got the pay rise and I hadn't. As it turned out I got back pay to the date I completed ITC. Have just got my first increment. The problem PSF had was working out what level to put me on as I was already serving. I agree with the rest of the gen but believe me the 6 month wait is incorrect. Have also checked with other courses and they have never heard of it. Trust me.

My colleague is indeed correct. At midnight after graduation, all acting Sgt's will move to Cpl pay providing it isn't mucked up. Apologies for any confusion.

I'll be here all week if there are any more questions!! ha ha
