Well if we are having a silly idea day and lets face it most suggestions/rumours fit that area. How about we amalgamate all the Padres. Why have three on one camp (some more, some less) when one would do.

I'm sorry mate but with an Omnipotent Trade sponsor there's never going to be multiskilling in the church:pDT_Xtremez_14:

If anything, the success of JHC and JFH highlights our flexibility to work with the other Services in their environments and should be regarded as a strength, not a weakness.

Let's be honest, in JFH it only works by accident! Jointery sucks, it's like having a premiership team work hand in hand with your local pub team. I won't say which team is which, but if you work, or have worked, in JFH you'll know exactly what I mean.

What exactly is their war role? I thought if we didn't have one then no job.

Taken from the RAF website.

As with all members of the Royal Air Force Music Services, Central Band musicians are required to support British forces on operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Musicians continue to be deployed as ‘force protection’, guarding installations and supporting helicopter and air transportation squadrons.

Any thoughts/rumours on which camps may go?

I've been told I'm part of the initial draw down at Cottesmore (I'm an ATM Cpl) and should start looking for a move through the Project Apollo route. I've already been told I'll struggle/won't get my three JPA choices at present, but I don't want to go for somewhere and have to move again.

I work on an air transportation sqn, and we have never had musicians helping us out. How the fcuk can they "support" us in Iraq or Afghanistan? Maybe they could play the trumpet for me whilst I'm changing a brake unit!!! In my opinion these lot should be the first to go in the SDR. War dodging cowards the lot of them.

Slightly Off Topic, but I can't believe most camps get away with having three messes open to feed livers in, surely enforced centralised messing, for at least breakfast and lunch would save a few quid.

Behave man. I can't eat with Junior ranks near me. They make me feel sick looking at them.

Perhaps however, this is part of the any trade OOA volunteers list requesting watchkeeprs etc. So really they don't have a specific war role.

They fill 'any trade' posts on deployed ops, yes, and some of them even volunteer for it. I worked with a musician in Bosnia, he was employed in PsyOps and was more front-line than most. His predecessor in post was a dental nurse. I know other musicians who have deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan as convoy commanders and the like.

So, no, they don't have a specific war role but they do the crap jobs that would otherwise have to be done by someone like you.

Shouldn't you have been posted by now?
I mean, the initial draw down has started, we lost a Sqn.
