Well well well, give with one hand take with the other. Linky

Anyone earning more then £21,000 a year will have their pay frozen starting next year. Still getting your increments but if your stuck on level 9 (or 7 depending on your rank) your screwed. :pDT_Xtremez_25:

Did we really expect anything different?

Must admit though being at level 9/9 is a bummer. Will be very interesting to see how much the charges go up.

Could be worse

Could be worse

We could've had a pay cut.

But we didn't thank god, it only effects me for three days but means no rise in my pension rate from this year to next.

not just the forces though, everybody working in the public sector has beeb hit with the same hammer

At least Op allowances have doubled. For those of you spending a lot of time out there like the Helicopter fleet and the transport fleets there is at least some semblance of fair play. I wonder how many glass backs will suddenly become fit to deploy?

I've always been fit to deploy and have went wherever I'm sent, including Basra before Op Allowance came in. Only half the slots for my rank and trade qualify for it and I've not been able to get into one of them for the last 2 tours I've done, it's nothing more than a show for the papers from my point of view and I'd much rather have a pay rise than get paid thousands of pounds less than someone doing an identical job in a slightly different desert to me.

So much for the "tories backing the forces" lie.

This was my argument when the election was going on. Thats why I voted for the other side, because I knew this would happen. And now its happening, who regrets voting tory? At least with Labour we were slowly but surely growing the economy, and now we're gonna get screwed big time. No jobs, no services, nothing that will help the economy, because public sector workers will be too skint to buy anything, especially the redundant ones. I know Labour were ****, but I reckon they would have been better at dealing with the situation. Tories are cutting now and people are saying 'Oh, its ok, its what is needed', but I guarantee that they will be sick of it in a years time when they're skint, then who should they have voted?

I don't regret voting Tory.
Not a bit.
In fact, I'm glad they're grabbing things by the scruff of the neck.
We were screwed either way, at least the Tories are making an effort instead of just lying and telling us it's not too bad.

I'm with Mr Masher. In the private sector we did our year of zero pay rise, 20% redundancies (with 4 weeks notice pay), no bonuses and all the usual stuff. We needed to do it, and everybody knew it, because without it we would have perished.

You guys? Yeah it'll be tough but come on. You are doing a good job - and more than the one you were expected to do but don't plead the "protect sick child" fellers. It's really demeaning and everyone in not-for profit is getting their share - no doubt on this side of the fence we will again as well.

As for the politics? Labour? Pah they would just keep digging the hole.

Utterly priceless! Slight growth in economy but £156 Bn in debt.

Not me mate. As has already been pointed out, we are having to suffer a little bit of pain to help go some way to getting the nation's finances back on track. The pain being caused by Labour.

Never regretted voting Tory once.

Again, no regrets voting Tory. It's going to be pretty grim for a good few years but at least we're getting things in order.

I quite like the way they've gone in with a big axe chopping huge chunks off everywhere rather than trimming here and there. Get the debt down and do it quickly in my opinion.

Indeed, the Adjusty family are considerably worse off under the Tories. Although I do wonder what kind of a mess we would have found ourselves in had an election not been for another 12-18 months........

You effectively have!. Pay stays the same, tax, food, accom , etc etc etc etc goes up.

Inflation in September this year looks like it's going to be running at around 5% do you are right a Zero Pay Rise is a Real Time Pay Cut.

Now taking this into account just think how much worse it would be if we had our pay cut like government employees in Ireland, Greece and Spain.

Inflation is kept high by the value of the pound on our imports and the last rise in inflation, which will further be compounded by another rise in January.

As long as interest rates don't go up too high too quickly I should be okay, cut your cloth to suit your budget.

Normally with a 2% - 3% pay rise I get a £50 - £70 pay rise per month, this year I have reduced my gas and electricity by £20 pm, my pet insurance by £19pm and my child care by £140pm.

With an increase in the Tax Free Band of £1000 this will also give me an extra £18pm.

So if you're money savvy you wont be knocking at the door of the poor house just yet.

Yeah no regrets voting tory either, like all you guys said at least they doing something about rather than lying like Labour have for 13 years. I still fuming they all got away with this and walk away with huge pensions after detroying the country.

Anyway stuck on Level 7 hoping for the promotion up as it sucks not having annual pay jump but I can still feed my family and pay for my beer if i dont get a rise. It could have been soooo much worse (just look at Greece)

Having left Brize 12 months ago, I had a lot of time seeing Cameron in the public eye prior to his premiership. Nothing but a used car salesman who would sell his own mother for a chance to get into #10.

I, for the first time in over adecade, didn't vote Tory and within the next 24 months I fear you will wish you hadn't either!

You thought you hated Brown........watch this space!

Anyone having to sort out this pile of debt would be unpopular.
