Barrel changes on earlier M60's could be entertaining, the carrying handle not being attached to the barrel, and the bipod being on the barrel as opposed to the gas group on the gympi.

The bipod still is on the barrel mate!!

Not on all of them it isn't. M60 is still manufactured in America and our operators prefer it to the GPMG.....

MAG240 isn't a direct copy as it has subtle differences that negate the need for licenses.....

All the crews did when I was away was moan about it - mainly because its not very portable in its air mounted variant.

Well they are the ones that have to use it in the end. Also, I didn't really like doing any maintenance on the damned thing, badly designed and poorly put together!!

You weren't allowed to do maintenance on it anyway as you weren't auth'd. Nothing wrong with the design of the gun. The role equipment is however a different issue.....
