North Korea, the next big one?

As relations between North and South Korea are starting to unravel after a South Korean warship was sunk it seems that America might have to put off it's war with Iran for a while.

I expect to see more South Korean ships sunk in the next few weeks for, "Being in North Koreas' territorial waters". Will the south have the cahoonas to sink some back?

As the North has buckets of instant sunshine at it's disposal it could all get rather twitchy and with the gun ho yanks involved could spiral quite quickly.

I think the North might sink one or two more, but if the South retaliates the North will have the excuse it needs to go for it big style.

Any other predictions out there?

Edit to add; And if USA does get involved the Chinese probably won't be too chuffed with something kicking off on their doorstep and with the North who are big trading partners.

We had the incident with a P3 Orion? that was hit by a mig flown by Wang Weh. Airspace will be a highly contested area by all three parties.

It has nowhere else to go with no money left, no food and no aid. It needs the diversion of war before revolution kicks in, with the idea of weedling some more aid out of the event.

.......China, on the other hand, may have other ideas.

Thats quality, you have a sweepstake for the next dodgy place!!

I would have thought the yanks will actually think twice before getting embroiled in Korea. You really don't want to be anywhere near China.

A war with an ASW element...surely that'll never happen? Well, the Spams will have to square that away themselves as this island nation regretfully doesnt currently have that capability :pDT_Xtremez_42:

Your right we don't need em, but unfortunately our politicians seem to think otherwise. And look where it's got us.

Does anyone know anything about NK's Nuke capabilities? ICBMs? Mobile Launchers? What have they got?

Will a Cruise missile "surgical strike" take them out before the Cornflakes have been poured?

Historically China have been their only ally, any surgical strike on them may upset the big red dragon. as to capabilities they recently tested short range missiles capable of reaching Japan, not sure what else they have.

Yes they do have the portable sunshine but will they use it? Would you trust a communist state as they control the media and everything else.

I'm hedging my bets that we have no money left to fight and no serviceable kit left ot fight with.

I'm taking classes in Manderin... :pDT_Xtremez_32:

No immediate war needs to happen...everyones economies post recession (for ease of explanation its over even though its hard to tell and may even double dip) are very very fragile...manufacturers make stuff in a tentative fashion and see who will buy outside of regular orders, employers begin to slowly re-employ as demand picks up, taxation income slowly increases much to any government's relief as welfare in harmony slowly decreases...

UNTIL someone decides to get all punk for no reason and tries to mix it up whilst most sensible nations are trying to do the right thing and recover...

All the like-minded nations have to do is sanction the annoying one...It won't matter if China sticks up for N. Korea, it can't pick up everything NK needs in time to matter...and if they do too much then China can enjoy worldwide exclusion as well...Its not going to do any of us any harm if we are denied Chinese and Korean goods for a period...we'll have to buy from elsewhere perhaps even ourselves and since the enormous demand from China helps to drive up commodity prices that all of us suffer from if we all were forced to not buy their products it would force that demand down (unless they have huge huge warehouses!)

So let them threaten, we sanction and enjoy the change in market direction...once they are feeling the pinch (With modern business processes of manufacturing, supply and delivery about 2 weeks) they will soon come back into line...

I see where you're coming from Vim. After all they got more money out of the West last time when they set their nuke off.

Maybe it's just more of the same...
