On the right it's a mutant one eyed penguin sucks, the other looks like a wierd pokemon drawn by someone way behind the educational drag curve.

The costumes don't really do them justice. I have read the "story" of where they come from and I think it captures Great Britain. Have a look at the video here. The metallic mascots they had on the TV today look pretty good.

I agree.........I watched the one show as they were going to unveil them.......they do look a bit weird to start with but when you hear the story behind them and the names it does make sense and more importantly they will get the kids involved and interested.

The Olympics will still be the biggest cluster fook ever but for once I do like the Mascots.

No doubt there will be plenty of us who will get a close look at the mascots when we have all been pulled away from our primary duties to work at the games!

I agree...............they do look a bit weird to start with but when you hear the story behind them and the names it does make sense and more importantly they will get the kids involved and interested.

At the first look, they do look a little bizarre and irrelevant. But, like you Tashy, I like the story and the meaning behind them. If it helps get kids motivated into sport, then objective achieved.

However, typically, they are relevant in only a British way. How will the rest of the competing nations view them? How will the kids from far away places be inspired by two characters with London Taxi lights on their heads?

The same could be said for other "mascots" that have appeared though....
