Is Religion Fair Game For Comedy?

Is religion, any religion, fair game in the name of comedy? Would the press coverage have been similar if it was christianity (yet again) that was the butt of a cartoon's jokes?

Are some follows of certain religions/faiths just a little too precious?

Yes it is...I am a practising Christian....well on Sundays anyway and I see no problem in making light of religion, at the end of the day if your offended then don't watch, listen to it.

I was under the impression that religion was a big joke/hoax anyway?
Nobody has ever been able to prove their God actually exists, but claims that the actions they take are somehow related to their God.
Anyone who can claim that killing innocent people will earn them 7 virgins has to be having a laugh, and if they actually thought it through, they are usually virgins because they are FUGLY!!

When you think about it, all religions are, are self appointed advertising agencies claiming mechandising rights and a large chunk of profits on sellling their own version of "the big one".

EVERYTHING is fair game for comedy. It's human nature and it's how we get through adversity and bad times.

Lets be honest, even the sickest joke in the right context can make you smile, no matter how offensive. You've just got to be sensible about when and where you tell them.

The pic on the BBC page above was actually the Bear suit that Mohammed was in whan it first went up this week, now its just a pic of the 4 South Park boys. BBC probably realised they would get a Jihad put on them too if they showed it.
