Chatting with a few people last night and discussions fell onto that traditional p1ss up (sorry sporting event) that should be a mainstay of TG17.

With Southwick Park being a pain for most to travel to and Halton/Uxbridge getting quieter and quieter where would be the most useful location for all to participate both on and off the pitch?

Bearing in mind that sport pitches and accommodation are going to be an issue I have been pondering possibilities of one of camps around Lincoln (Scampton / Kirton-in-Lindsey).

Suppose the other question is there still a need for everyone to get together for a p1ss up?

Anyroad - discuss

Sounds like a plan

Sounds like a plan

RAF Lincoln seems like a good idea, having briefly discussed the matter here there is an interest in taking a side down, holding it in an area with several RAF camps abundant should also encourage stronger attendance! As to your last point, the Tg17 tournament should be IMO encouraged, apart from the obvious football and socialising opportunities, it is a chance to network and build up contacts across the wider service (OK, its a p**s up!)

The Tg17 footy should be a must on the calender

Somewhere in Lincolnshire would be a good shout with it being very central for most to travel up/down too

Being in an AFCO hopefully the TG17 can be advertised on here so that a combined AFCO team can be arranged or i can just tag onto another side.

I believe it was based in Halton this year - not seen any feedback on how many turned up/who won.

The organiser for the past few years is an SAC from up Northallerton way, however it looks like he is spending the summer somewhere hot and sunny so would probably like some help to organise next years event - any volunteers?

I was made aware that SAC **** (who has done some sterling work over the last few years) might be possibly away. Hence the questions - is there still enough interest in the Tg17's? and if so where best placed to hold it to get maximum attendance?.

Happy to get involved regardless. Had mentioned to the trade sponsors last year that it was something they should really being getting involved with as it used to be one of the highlights of the year. Would also be nice to get it recognised accordingly, that should allow easier means of booking transport and accommodation somewhere/someplace.

COME ON TG17 - LETS BE HAVING YOU!! :pDT_Xtremez_30:

The above mentioned SAC has already managed to get it recognised by the Sports Board as an official event therefore travel/accom should be covered.

I'll come! I can't play football anymore (some say I never could anyway), but my supporting and beer-drinking skills are second to none!:pDT_Xtremez_30:

Just dont let him sing when he's had a few. He is the exception to the "All Welshmen can sing" theory!!!!

A trickle of interest coming through - so far we can fill a corner of a bar!!

Any preferences on location? Get in amongst your troops, get some answers and lets get the ball rolling "literally"

As it has been 'recognised', can't we go for a midweek event. Ideally meet and play football on one day, then presentations or something the following morning. Two days off work and liberal drinking after the football with all day to recover! Also, I expect more people would turn up midweek than weekend. Just a thought.

I am leaving my humble AFCO and going to Lossie in the new year, are there any Lossie TG17's thinking of going (or even a joint effort with Kinloss)?

Thats a shame Geordie4ever we could have been almost half way to an AFCO team

If anyone else is still going to be in an AFCO next year who is up for it let me know

An excellent idea for the event to be held during the week, other trades seem to take the time to hold their tournaments midweek. I'm sure each team making the effort to turn up could count it as a FD opportunity.

Just seen sight of info informing that the TG17's is planned to be held at Southwick Park on 31 July 10.

Nice to see it back with Sec TS - getting to location pain in rear, however night life ain't too bad so could be a cracker.

If anyone needs to know who is co-ordinating to gauge interest prior to sending out Admin order let me know and I'll PM.

So come on then - who fancies a TG17 social p1ss up in the Portsmouth sun? (oh and play a wee bit of footie)

Yes please, although I'll be a supporter, not player!

Not sure how I feel about Soutwick Park. Great that the momentum to organise is there but its the a*se end of nowhere and a pain to get to.
At this Unit Flts have to be sanctioned at a very senior level and that means a very long drive for us to get there. Mind you if someone else drives.............

It is a bit of a dump, agreed. I have always found air travel no problem when it can be demonstrated it's cheaper than train; surely air must be cheaper from your location? Or is your accts flt just being the handbrake within handbrake house???
