'Britain Set For Record Breaking BBQ Summer'

Last year's dramatically incorrect prediction of a BBQ summer was a wash out - but now another forecaster is sticking its neck out and predicting the same for 2010. The Met Office's incorrect forecast for 2009 angered families who had booked holidays in the UK and anyone excited about a bit of Sun.

It was followed by a predicted "mild winter" - but the UK was brought to a snowy standstill in the coldest temperatures for 30 years.
After strong criticism, the agency, which employs 1,800 people, scrapped its long-term forecast.

Stepping in to fill the gap, Positive Weather Solutions (PWS) - which employs just five staff at its office in Abergavenny, Mid-Wales - is claiming Britain can bank on a barbecue summer in 2010.

PWS accurately predicted the Big Freeze, said there was a chance of a White Christmas and made a host of other accurate long-term predictions in the last two years, so the odds are on it could be correct.

Senior forecaster Jonathan Powell said: "There will be stifling temperatures, making it possibly the warmest UK summer on record and placing it at least in the top three warmest summers recorded.

"There's a good chance of record temperatures across the UK. The highest temperature record of 38.5C may well fall.
"A very warm summer like this has been on the cards for some years, and the Met Office believed it was likely to happen last year."

Time to start stocking up methinks.................. :pDT_Xtremez_14:

No, it's going to be really uncomfortably and nastily warm, as anyone of my age will relate.

It's just a cyclical thing - its going to be ugly hot.

I spoke to my old mate Mick the Met yesterday. ...

Don't believe a fcuking word of it. Long range forcasts are done from computer models and are only 65% accurate..

Wellies and scarf is the order of the day....

Good summers tend to follow hard winters over here so I shall vote for a good summer.... for UK standards that is.

Yeah, the Met are using computer models fed data from that discredited lot in that Uni that were falsifying data.

The Beeb is binning them from the weather reporting because they have been so very very wrong in the last 10 years.

Surprised they are doing this, I thought they had stopped the 6 month finger-in-the-air guess in favour of a 3 month finger-in-the-air guess in the hope they will not be laughed at as much.
