Whilst agreeing that the RWC is simply doing his job, by rewarding him/her, I bvelieve it actually encourages/promotes excellence not mediocrity.

Whats wrong with pride in your work? Why should you get a certificate for doing your job. It will be like MacDonalds next;

A Star for FOD spotting

A Star for Wheels up

A Star for loose panels

A Star for Pins in seats

and a star for the dimwit who decides to drive on the runway without permission..

Can just imagine the drive through version of the RWC, free porn, chemical toilet and a gucci certificate

You know, the next thing will be giving awards to Talkdown Controllers for getting an aircraft on the ground safely in poor vis!!!!

I think it's the almost equivelent to the RWC getting a good show as I said and many other for simply doing their jobs.

Many Techies do get good shows BUT what you have to remember is that there are many Techies working on a/c and most that I've read are other tradepersons noticing a fault on an aspect that isn't in their job spec/TOR's and does deserve a Good Show.

The Controller says he has had the odd blow back. Isn't that a danger to Flight Safety especially if he is on console? Still, I always knew he was full of sh1t.:p

As for the elasticated troosers, I would refer the Honourable Gentlemen to the latest RAFA Magazine (available in all good anti-rooms).:D

PS. Has anybody noticed that Jo SWO wears elasticated pants too?:eek:
