Shiney trade training

I promoise this is not a trolling thread but a genuine, interested question.

What is covered in Pers Admin trade training?

Of all the trades it is the one that I have the least understanding of what their training may actually consist of.

A techie course is fairly obvious, lots of theory on how tings should work followed by learning how to fix them.

MT drivers get taught how to drive etc etc.

Please don't let this turn into an anti TG17 thread please :)

Back In My Day

Back In My Day

Sounds similar to your training.

You learn the theory and reasoning behind a facet of service life then you learn the process to administer it.

One of the biggest things in my day was not a level of absolute knowledge but being human enough to check the AP rather than thinking you know best. In our world the rules/goalposts change all the time so relying on the answer you gave a year ago is not really on.

Of course all training environments are just that, you'll leave trade training with the basics then spend the rest of your career learning how to do it.

Busby,

Your answer is vague to the extreme. Surely you can list a few of the subjects covered. Was dodging questions on the curriculum?

I think the "dodging the questions" module is part of on the job training rather than taught at shiney school.......:pDT_Xtremez_06:

I remember Pers Admin trade training at Hereford consisting of copious amounts of free sex and mad dog 20/20 frenzied blow jobs. Great times.

Seriously though, if you want a thorough understanding of the scribbly trade, I suggest you remuster. At least there'll be no drop in pay. LMFAO

If you are going to be a clerk, or whatever the fancy name is these days, remember that when the guy on the other side of the counter asks a question he usually requires an answer. Also be very bribable to drinks in the NAAFI after work.....!!!!!

Back in my day I vividly remember learning how to address a service envelope ensuring that the classification was stamped top & bottom, back & front and adressed to the Officer Commanding RAF Wherever. There was a lot of typing which doubled as service writing lessons on those blasted old fashioned typewriters and receipt & dispatch of service documents. We had to complete handwritten service records on F280's and action leave passes (F295A) onto the F678, manually of course, ensuring that personnel promoted to SNCO status received their 12 days extra leave and writing a lot of train, bus and air warrants. There was the F102 to record receipt/dispatch of classified docs/letters and how to carefully mark the shanni tray of ******'s we didn't like ensuring they didn't receive the extra leave or warrants that we saved for our 'best' customers. Lots of NAFFI bops followed by Cherry's or the Crystal Rooms and a scrap with the locals on the way home. Those were the days..

12 months later it was back to Hereford for P&A Clk training which was a whole different ball game, bit of pay, rations, allowances and a whole load of drinking in the numerous taverns of Herefordshire. Of course that is totally wasted now as the tools of our trade have changed dramatically in the last 28 years but unfortunately there's been very little training in the meantime.

Anyway 3O'Clock how about letting us in on your gripe about how the shinies have screwed you over; you never know someone might be able to help?

Shiney's are trained?

Shiney's are trained?

Lets be honest, it can't have been hard can it if discips were re-trained to be shiney's!
The current course is a piece of pi$$. Can you say ''that's in the JSP if you look or you'll have to ring JPAC for that''.
Feck knows what they do for the rest of the time they're on ''trade Training'....

I think a lot of people on here have beat me to it, but I always wondered why PSF is closed in the afternoon ?????

Could you imagine if your house was on fire and you phoned 999, only for them to say "Sorry we dont work afternoons"

I wonder if I can say the same thing

Me: "You will have to cancel the flying program cos were gonna do feck all this afternoon. "
Line Manager: "Whys that ?!?"
Me: "Errr.... training"

Humble Scribe, I never thought I would hear you talking about your own trade like that, but to clarify your point, I agree that the tools of your trade have changed dramatically..............

Firstly they get paid more
Secondly they do less
Thirdly they are much bigger tools!!

probably JPAC thats who you lot always tell me to ring with pay/leave problems :pDT_Xtremez_42:psf up here are currently only open 8-12 wtf !!!!!! i went in at four today (for another reason) and ALL the lights were off!!!

I think you will find it was only the first light that was off as its buggered. Try again in the morning however, don't bother me after 12 as I need to catch up on my sleep. Can't talk about every PSF but we are down to 4 guys to look after the station at Lossie 4 of the 8 are OOA (not many sections can boast of a 50% manning loss to OOA alone) never mind the sick and posted/gapped. The station also have loads of guys going OOA so we are making them a priority as they need all our help so things like leave, subs pay and other queries are going on the back burner. We are not closed for training we are closed for "walk ins" without an appt so we can get the lads and lasses prepped for OOA. If you require assistance then simple, make an appt (As long as its not something like "Do I really need to do these preps as I am only going away for 4 months" SAC(T) yesterday going to Afghan) and don't just turn up.

The phrase 'unfit for purpose' springs to mind.
