Cam Net goes Whoompf Query

Needing some advice from some knowledgable soul with regards to Cam Netting.

Long story very short is that a H&S bloke (civvy contractors) has got knickers in twist as a sample took from a demo tent that was set light to went up like a roman candle.

Has prompted questions as to whether Cam Nets are fire retardant?, could the stuff in our tent be old stock and is newer issue fire retardant, can they be treated somehow to be made fire retardant ?? so on and so forth.

I have noticed by looking at Google that some companies do sell fire retardant cam netting - so can someone please give me the lowdown on what we can get issued.

Cheers in advance :pDT_Xtremez_30:

Have always told folks that it isn't fire proof and great care should be taken when using it, especially around Xmas time when loads of people want to make Santas Grotto or something of the like.

I used to have a store with all kinds woodland/desert and snow and have never once seen any fire retardent signs on them, I hate to admit it but am sure the H&S bloke has it right...

In a mythbusters style, take one outside and light the touch paper...

You'll soon know either way :pDT_Xtremez_42:

I would suggest Cam Net goes whoooompf very quickly
Working on light armour we were always very careful to keep it away from exhausts etc

Once saw a four tonner hit by a schermully it went whooooompf very quickly the bit of cam net wasn't very retardent at al

Strikes me as it is a bit daft having cam net that isn't fire retardent though. Lets face it there is usually a lot of burny stuff around in a warzone.

But nobody can see you when your cammed up so none of it should hit you

Unless the Yanks spot that Union Flag and identify you as an enemy rocket launch system:pDT_Xtremez_35:

Surprised?

Surprised?

I am pretty sure that the cam net may be the least of the worries?
Tent, liner, sleeping bags all make pretty good firelighters. That's why it's always scary having a sneaky tabber in the vicinity?

luckily every det normally has a little fire extinguisher!:pDT_Xtremez_42:

Would that be 'Stumpy' the fireman?

Risk aversion is the cancer of modern society, no naked flames means, no naked flames. You wouldn't spark up a barbecue on a petrol station forecourt.

There was a huge pile of old cam nets outside supply at my old station which were flammable - to be chucked - the new versions are now made fire retardant apparently
