That's good news. It's about time that this baby got off the ground project wise.

Despite the non believers and the doubters, this aircraft is badly needed and when it enters service, it'll beat the C130 into oblivion performance wise.

Yeah.... but you're very pro-Airbus, particularly A400.... and have been backing them on the goat for a long while. Have you been down there before? Toulouse or Seville?

If I was a betting man, I'd be advising you not to pack your bags just yet...:pDT_Xtremez_42:

I had heard this aircraft was way to heavy and is being looked at getting canned. I like everyone else wants new aircraft in and Im sure this on paper is a good aircraft but currently unless the frames are paid for then there is no guarantee. I hope we do get them as the jobs they could provide could be handy for many of us leaving the service soon

Yes, I am very pro Airbus. I'm also very pro Boeing, very pro SAAB, very Pro Bell Textron, very pro Embraer.........it goes on. And yes, I did a stint in TLS about 5 years ago. It was so sh1t, I packed my tool box up and left for better and better paid jobs.

So you obviously know more about what's happening in the industry than most then :pDT_Xtremez_42:

Which is beaten into oblivion now by the C-17.

Erm....No.

Both aircraft perform different roles, the C130 would not be able to replace the C-17 and the C-17 would not be able to replace the C-130.

The A400M fits in the middle somewhere, it doesn't claim to do everything that the C-17 can do, and probably cannot do everything the C-130 can do (althought it appears that it can do almost everything and some).

I meant the A400M not the C-130.

I think we'll have to buy some else, more c-17 and c-130. But I don't really think it will get canned it's probably politics from EADS.

Im not so sure, some good friends of mine work at Airbus Filton, one of them directly on A400m and they were telling me last year that EADS wanted out of the project.

No smoke without fire I say...
