Channel 5 seem to be getting their share of operations media. Monday the Th of Jan is the start of the series "War Zone" at 2100. By the looks of the advert it seemed to be filmed at the grassroots level, lets hope it shows us in a good light.

"Documentary series following the lives of British servicemen and women at Kandahar Airbase in Afghanistan. In this instalment, a Harrier jump jet is scrambled to fight the Taliban; a new squadron of recruits arrives from the UK; and one young female officer finds ways to make the most of life in a war zone."

For once , I agree with your comments.!!!

Just goes to show how inept the reportage is, but also how inept that the UK public is to all matters military.

most of these documentries seem to follow females, I wonder why , can they talk better than males or is it because its eye candy for the camera ?

Mr Sniffer was out there when they were filming and they seemed quite keen to know what he and the rest of the team he was with, were up to and what they were doing (TG 1). So I'm hoping that this too will be a better insight into the ground trades role in Afghanistan and not all officers and aircrew.

Just to add I've just watch the Beebs Afghanistan programme and thought it was a refreshing change.

This is the programme I think the Wobbly was talking about in the thread about frontline at christmas time. Anyway it starts on Monday at 9pm on Channel Five.

It's the first part of the 8 part documentary series following the lives of British servicemen and women at Kandahar Airbase in Afghanistan.

Standby for us to shoot ourselves in the foot as usual.

I await the airman whinging that pizza hut/timmy hortons/burger king/green bean ect is closed or the DFAC running out of ice cream or somesuch.

Guaranteed somebody will make us look foolish in front of the other two services. My money is on a mover.

Judging what I've been hearing about the glorious British Army in Kuwait recently, they have no moral high ground to take when it comes to how military the RAF appears.

From what I saw of the advert, it looked like another attempt to "sex up" what is a very dangerous and tragic situation our forces are in.

But, I stand to be corrected when I watch in on Monday.

This might not be the PR screening we were hoping for.

+1. Doesn't look good so far does it? Several dozy WRAF's giggling amd messing about like they are on holiday isnt a good advert for the RAF.
