Individual Leave Allowance to be reduced in secret?

At last a good fat juicy rumour, hot off the grapevine!

Question was being asked if anyone knew about the allegation that Leave will be reduced for everyone by 2 days next year for 30 days to 28.

This will be because of 2 extra public holidays (one apparently an armed forces day).

Anyone got any kosher info on this or is it just a nice old pile of bollox?

Its seems to be true mate, we got told by a Groupie in a recent AMP brief. I am not sure what the other day is for either. But when somebody challenged the Group Captain, he said that 86% of people fail to manage their leave correctly so it wont make much difference... The cheek of it! (Its all lies, you cant beat a good rumor)

You are correct, it is bollox. They have already published the amended details for next year stating that everyone will get 38 days to include Bank Holidays.

not seen that published tommo (DIN, IBN, T Letter?), although I had heard about the rumour that the OP mentioned.

It would make sense to give the PHs out in a job lot with your ALA, but I take it the bods that go OOA will have the PHs they are away for taken off them cos of POL earning?

I think this was an IBN, and before Tommo replies guys on ops will not have any taken off them. Apparently POL is not compensation for lost bank hols but has another reason for it's existence all together, therefore, people on Ops will not lose out on PH.

A nice step forward IMO.

I have seen it published but I can't remember where right now. As tommo says, on 1 Apr 09 we will be credited with 38 days ILA, made up of 30 days annual leave and 8 days authorised absence. What will happen when somebody has used all their leave before Christmas we will have to wait and see.

I didn't think next year's Armed Forces Day/Veterans Day had been given the status of public holidays?

Well 38 days is still not that bad, seven and a half weeks.......I'm sure thats more than some people get.

Obviously not me, think my days off totals about 169 this year (should have been more but I did a couple of courses)

Crack on....................:pDT_Xtremez_09:

So whats to stop people not submitting a leave pass for a bank holiday and then "gaining" a days leave?

And is 8 PH's what we would normally get?

Yes 8 public holidays a year.

Nothing I believe, but I imagine your line manager will want to know why you haven't submitted a leave pass

That's for the high pay band shineys to trawl through every station member and cross ref. duty personnel on said bank holiday with leave passes submitted. That's got to be a real headache!:pDT_Xtremez_41:

It puts more responsibility on Line Managers to manage their pers and leave.

They did that a while ago at ISK and released a spreadsheet with the names of those that hadn't submitted leave, with threats attached to the bulletin. The list included the CO :pDT_Xtremez_31:

There is a reasonably easy report to run on JPA to show who has (/hasnt) got leave in over a specific period.

It is also possible to block leave people for a set period as well which I think will be happening in my place.

As for having no leave left by xmas, its a individuals/line manager thing I guess, but once it has happened, which might seem to late - no fear - his leave balance for the next year can easily be amended. It would then be sensible for all his PHs for the upcoming year to be pre entered.

Is the change in policy for POL not compensating for PHs coming in at the same time as the new leave balances?

Leave/PH

Leave/PH

I believe that there is a new move afoot where the recording of PH on JPA is concerned. Everybody will be recorded as being on leave for all Public Holiday weekends plus the Monday and/or Friday and it will then be the responsibility of the line manager to 'claim' the day back for the individuals that were actually working on that particular day. This idea alleviates the worries of people using up their leave before Christmas/New Year.

The new system (From 1 Apr 09) assumes that pers will take the PH's as planned. However, there is no plan to remove leave from those who do not take them, but the limit of 15 days carry-over will remain. If you don't take PH then you just lose leave, simple as.
